Monday Message #1

Dear Rally Entrants, Volunteers and Sponsors,

This is the first in our series of “Monday Messages” as we count down to the 2023 Lewis & Clark Classic Rally, now just about three and a half weeks away.  We’ll review some important items, provide some timely information, and do our best to help you to prepare for the “great cars, great roads, great people and great fun” that are all in store.

Our Unique Format

Recall that the event starts Friday evening at 7 p.m. (yes, in the evening), when we open registration in the Event Center of the Boulder Falls Inn in Lebanon, Oregon.

The Event Center will be open from 6 p.m. on for your after-dinner relaxing and socializing, and don't forget to check out the great cars in the parking lot! A cash bar will be open beginning at 6:30 p.m. They'll also have "bar food" for sale.

From 7 to 9 p.m. we'll get you checked in and issue your "goody bag," and at 9 p.m. we'll make introductions and announcements.

Shakedown Miles

With over three weeks until the rally there is still time to get repairs made if your intended rally/tour car has some “issues.” If you haven’t put any shakedown miles on it lately, now might be a very good time to do so.

A Homework Assignment

Remember that what we call the “General Instructions” (GIs) in rally parlance are really just the rally rules, and a TSD rally is, to a very large degree, a test of the participants’ knowledge of the GIs and their ability to apply them.

The GIs are available on the rally website, right here: The Rally Rules – and we highly encourage you to study them in advance.

Of course, if you're in the tour you've got it made - no homework! You lucky dog.

One more very important thing to do now is to download the Richta Competitor app to your smartphone. We will use this app for scoring again this year. There will be no staffed checkpoints. We'll provide some instruction on the app at the Friday evening meeting, but it will make things run smoother if you already have this app downloaded and functioning on your smartphone.

It would also be helpful if you have a power socket in your rally car so that your smartphone doesn't run out of power during the event. They are simple to install and can be placed unobtrusively up under the dash. Your favorite mechanic can likely easily install one when you take your event car to them for a pre-event check (did you catch the hint in there?).

Still a Couple of Openings

Due to a couple of recent cancelations we again have openings in the event. If you know of someone who would enjoy it, please invite them to register ASAP. Head counts for meals, shirt orders, etc. must be done well in advance, and we're rapidly approaching the cut-off dates.

Stay tuned!

We'll be back next Monday with additional important information, and in the meantime please contact any of these team members with questions or for assistance:
