#1 again! And well deserved! As reported in US News, our peers have again ranked our Environmental Law Program #1 in the nation. Our part-time program (also known as our evening program), ranked #14 in the nation. Also of note, the ABA and the Oregon State Bar have recognized a number of our faculty, students and alums for their legal scholarship and societal impact. I am so proud of our law school community and its accomplishments – especially during this most challenging year.
Plans are well underway for our Fall semester as we happily return to in-person instruction and events. We still await guidance from our state regulators on important details that will determine maximum class sizes and additional restrictions on group activities.
Right now, we are looking forward to our most important Spring event: Commencement, where we will celebrate and recognize our graduating class of 2021. We have designed safe in-person gatherings for small groups of students, and on May 22nd and 23rd we will hold 16 in-person mini-commencement ceremonies, each with 10 graduates and their guests. The day before, Friday, May 21 at 4 pm, we will hold a virtual commencement ceremony where remarks will be given by me, President Wiewel, Congressmen Blumenauer and our student speakers. You are invited to watch from the comfort of your home.
I hope you enjoy reading this newsletter featuring the many accomplishments of our students, faculty, staff, alumni, and friends. I wish you good health!
My very best,
Dean Jennifer Johnson
