Greg Jacobelli
Science and Engineering Teacher

My name is Greg Jacobelli, formerly of the Pennsylvania Jacobellis. My family and I moved to Kentucky 20 years ago and have found a permanent home here in Lexington. I have worked at Lexington Catholic High School for over 18 years and have enjoyed my time here at LC. I have been lucky enough to work with great people like Charlie Myers, Sally Stevens, Susan Purdue, and the legend himself, Mark Batson. I have also been fortunate to have a hand in teaching aerospace engineers, Air Force pilots, business owners, and many others currently in the workforce and serving in our military.

The best part of this job is hearing from and seeing alumni. Knowing what you all are up to really makes this job worth doing. A lot has changed in the past year or two. We have added an engineering pathway through Project Lead The Way (PLTW) and will be offering Programs of Emphasis (POE) courses this fall. Our
engineering classes use computer-based design software to bring students’ designs to life on our 3-D printers and use basic programming skills to design and build robots.
Students learn how to program the bots to run specific tasks autonomously but can also control them remotely.

POEs are specific class offerings that allow students to explore careers in engineering, aerospace, and business. Each POE has a list of classes that a student may take to graduate with an emphasis in a specific discipline. These classes are open to anyone curious about these careers. The more options we can offer here in high school the better idea students will have of what it is they would like to pursue post-graduation and can get started sooner.  We plan to add many more pathways through PLTW and continually add to our Programs of Emphasis. Please keep in touch and let us know what you are up to.  If you have any interest in coming in to talk to this generation, please let me know; you all are one of our more valuable resources. Reach out anytime to gjacobelli@lexingtoncatholic.com.

Dr. Joe Suetholz recently passed away 6 weeks shy of his 90th birthday. He loved Lexington Catholic and was a member of the Hall of Fame. Joe was inducted into the HOF Class of 2013 as one of the affectionately named “Grumpy Old Men”, 12 men who worked the LCHS basketball games for over 40 years.

Joe and his wife, Esther, have the following 6 children, all LCHS alums: Brenda ’73 (Steve) Musgrave, Barbara ’75 (Mike) Beeghly, Beth ‘76 (Wally) Lawrence, Joey ‘80 (Monica) Suetholz, Mary ‘82 (Pete ’81) Johns, and Steven ’83 (Ellen) Suetholz.

Baccalaureate Mass and Graduation
 May 22, 2021
This year Lexington Catholic will hold Baccalaureate Mass and Graduation for the Class of 2021 at Whitaker Bank Ballpark. This allows for all of our graduates' families to be in attendance and keep everyone socially distanced and safe. We can't wait to celebrate our amazing seniors in a special way.
If you missed uKnight Day, you can still make a difference by making a gift today.
The Office of Advancement would like to thank everyone for their support of Lexington Catholic on uKnight Day.

While you may have seen an abundance of messages from Mid-Knight Stakes and uKnight Day, these important events play a crucial role in the success of our school. Not only by raising funds for operations and tuition assistance but also by celebrating the spirit of our community.
Thanks to over 500 supporters, our virtual Mid-Knight Stakes was Amazing.
In addition to our attendees, sponsorship, and online auction, Lexington Catholic received $11,525 in direct Fund A Need donations.

Following up immediately, we celebrated uKnight Day, April 15, 2021. Knights around the globe – alumni, students, families, friends, faculty, and staff – rallied to give back to Lexington Catholic, raising over $11,800.00 from 96 gifts in just 24 hours. Every dollar adds up to make a big difference.

Thank you for once again showing us the unshakeable, selfless spirit of the Knight's Nation!

Please send in your news and updates so we can all celebrate together! Let us know “Where You Are Now” and if you have a family history with LCHS, we'd love to hear it!
