Alumni News
Welcome to the inaugural edition of the Lexington Catholic Alumni Newsletter! This Lexington Catholic Alumni Newsletter is for you and about you with added news from your alma mater to keep you “in the know." We are proud of our Knights! We know you continue to shine bright when you leave our campus and we all enjoy hearing what and how everyone is doing. Send in your news to share! We cannot wait to celebrate with you!
From the President

We are excited to launch the first Lexington Catholic Alumni Association Newsletter! I hope the newsletter creates a new way for alumni to keep in touch with both each other and the school. This is an exciting time of year, as the students arrive on campus, even during these unprecedented times.

The capital build is set to begin at the end of the month and will initiate with the demolition of [3] houses and corner parking construction at the corner of Clays Mill & Stratford Drive on property owned by the school. Phase 2, building addition that will serve a new High Marks Center and Science wing, will begin in 2021. The project will address critical infrastructure needs and allow the physical space to accommodate 21st century STEM programming, with modern labs designed by Alltech, including an additional outdoor science classroom. The High Marks learning center will meet the increasing needs of students with learning differences for both individual and group learning.

Enjoy the first newsletter and please send in pictures (with captions) as you reach milestones in your lives that we can share in future issues.

God Bless,
Sandra R. Young, President
From the Alumni Council Chair

My tenure as Chair of the Alumni Council is coming to an end this month but I am happy to remain on the Alumni Council and continue my support of Lexington Catholic. As I look back, I am bombarded with so many wonderful memories! Where to begin? While I have enjoyed participating in every event, there are a few that stand out and hold a special place in my heart.

I am always excited for the Fall Knight's Bash as its focus is all about our Alumni! It’s casual and, to me, the perfect way to celebrate a reunion or just catch up with old friends.

My next favorite fun event is Hoagie Week. I have been fortunate enough to score a spot on the Prep Crew. We’re also the first to arrive on Saturday morning way before the sun comes up to get Hoagies made and out the door. It’s hard work, but the laughter absolutely outweighs the effort and it’s always a joy to see the same faces year after year come back for more Prep and fun.

For an event that never fails to warm my heart, nothing compares to the Hall of Fame Selection and Luncheon. The Alumni Council is responsible for selecting the Hall of Fame recipients. It is always uplifting to read the nomination letters that reveal the achievements of the recipients either during their time at LCHS or their career or their devotion to LCHS. Then to attend the luncheon when they receive their award in front of their family and friends always touches my heart and makes me so proud to be part of our Alumni Council.

Sincerely,
Susie Morton '76
Congratulations to our newest alumni Class of 2020!

We are so proud to have alumni working in leadership positions at Lexington Catholic. This year, our school named Jonathan Kincheloe '01 as Assistant Principal for Academic Affairs and Faculty Development and Ann Tramontin Bruggeman '93 has been named Assistant Principal for Student Life.

Jonathan Kincheloe '01
We are so blessed to be back at Lexington Catholic, a school we loved as students and one we continue to love today. I know I never envisioned myself being here after graduation, nor did I envision being here after college graduation. But sometimes you are just pulled in a direction and God leads us to where we belong. I am proud and grateful to be a part of this great school and working to help it grow and take the next steps to continue to be a great school. Helping students develop and pursue their dreams is something I love doing and I am just fortunate enough that it happens to be my job. I am excited about the future of Lexington Catholic, we have a storied and successful past, we have an even brighter future. Happy to start the 2020-2021 school year off right.

Ann Tramontin Bruggeman '93
As a member of the Class of 1993, it was an honor to get a job teaching right out of college at my alma mater. Growing up, Catholic education was something that my family valued and I grew to appreciate, as well. As I enter my 24th year of employment here at LCHS, I reflect on the past years with such fondness. The relationships I have built with my peers, along with lifelong friendships with families who have been a part of this community, are both very dear to my heart. As we reopen LCHS, I am committed to helping each student feel the true hospitality that I know we provide, in the safest of environments.   I ask for your continued prayers for the success of our reopening and for the 2020-21 school year.

Fall Knights Bash & Keeneland Tailgate
Due to Covid-19 concerns and these unprecedented times, our fall events, including Fall Knight’s Bash and Keeneland Tailgate, have been cancelled. We are looking at spring dates when we can all gather safely again. We will let you know when we have those dates. We can’t wait to see you when we can gather safely and welcome you back home on campus!
Hoagies
Hoagies have been cancelled for the first time in 43 years! Hoagies were launched in September 1977 and this unique and wonderful FUNdraiser has continued and become more successful through the years for our school. We need you to help us make a difference! Money raised helped us by keep tuition as affordable as possible. We may not have Hoagies this fall, but we are one large LC community that can still be rallied to support LCHS as we "uKnight to Serve". More details to come.
Reunions

Reunions have been cancelled for the fall, but if you are interested in beginning the planning on your reunion for the spring or next fall, please contact Pam Schneider. Reunion information can be found on our website.
