As spring gets underway in North Carolina, our team is gearing up for the second quarter and ready for what’s ahead. This month, Leyliners Rebecca Chilton and Allan Odour joined the North Carolina Clean Energy Association’s Squeaky Clean Energy Podcast to discuss diversity and inclusion in the clean energy industry and to share details about Leyline’s recently instated Leyline Addressing Racism (LAR) initiative. Rebecca and Allan spoke with host Matt Abele about LAR’s work the past two quarters, Leyline’s engagement with HBCUs, the company’s vision for the future of the clean energy industry, and more. North Carolina, like many states along the eastern seaboard, is trying to bolster its offshore wind energy. The U.S. Department of Energy notes that North Carolina’s coast has more offshore wind potential than any other state along the Atlantic Coast. In March, the N.C. Department of Commerce, Board of Science, Technology, and Innovation completed an offshore wind study for North Carolina. The study aimed to characterize the wind opportunity for the state, assess the state’s assets and business potential, review business incentives and policy gaps, and take a look at North Carolina’s ports. Click here to learn more about the key findings from the study. We’re proud to be headquartered in North Carolina, and we stand ready to assist as offshore wind project development takes shape.
Rebecca Chilton, director of project finance at Leyline, also served as a panelist at the 2021 Energy Storage Summit – “Will Investment for Energy Storage Really Flood the Market in 2021?” Rebecca discussed the different avenues to overcome merchant hurdles, how to take a hybrid approach on investment for energy storage, and how to make an energy storage project bankable with other leading investors and financiers in the storage space.
As always, we remain committed to making renewable energy investments that make a difference. We’d love to hear from you and learn how we can work together to fight against climate change. Email us at devcap@leylinecapital.com to begin a conversation.
