The Taste of Linden Hills Fundraiser is a fun, upscale evening that celebrates the amazing food in our neighborhood and raises money for the council's general budget and grants program. You won't want to miss this Five Star Event.

There are two early-bird ticket options available now through April 30 at 9:00 p.m.

• Standard tickets: Includes one drink ticket, $75 each.
• VIP tickets: includes two drink tickets, a limited edition drinking glass, and a 30-minute "Meet and Greet" with the restaurant chefs are $100 each.

On May 1, only standard tickets will be available, and the price for those tickets will increase to $85 each. Purchase tickets here.

All Guests will experience tastes from our amazing local restaurants: Bread and Pickle, Cafe Ceres, Coffee and Tea, Great Harvest, Harriet Brasserie, Martina, Old Southern BBQ, Rosalia and Tilia – and with your drink tickets you can enjoy adult beverages and delicious N/A drinks from Wooden Ship Brewing Company and Picnic. They will also provide a cash bar. Local musicians will play while you enjoy the company of your Linden Hills neighbors.

Complex Road Construction Projects in Linden Hills

Road Construction at 43rd and Upton

Beginning Monday, April 15, the intersection at 43rd and Upton will be closed to car traffic, though pedestrian walkways will remain open. The road closure is expected to last 10 weeks through the end of June.

During that time:

• Minneapolis Public Works will replace 200 feet of clay pipe from 1919 at the intersection.

• Metro Transit will use this shutdown time to begin their work for the bus stops that will be used by the new E-Line route, opening in 2025. 

Work hours will be from 7:00 a.m.- 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. More information here. All businesses will remain open during this street closure, it is critical that we band together to support them. Stay tuned for information on a campaign that will incentivize non-car activity during this closure.



Water Main Renewal Project Underway

Beginning in early April, the City of Minneapolis’ Public Works Department started on a water main renewal project in Linden Hills, which will remove mineral deposits that can limit water flow to residences and businesses. 

The project is happening in stages, and is scheduled for completion in November 2024. Residents on streets that will be directly impacted were sent this letter at the end of March. Read more about the project here.

Talking About Organics Recycling

This Earth Month, LHiNC is focusing on one of the biggest opportunities for improving how we recycle: appropriately disposing of food scraps and wasted food by using organics recycling. 

Did you know that Minneapolis’ city-wide curbside organics recycling program has its roots right here in Linden Hills? Linden Hills residents came together to pilot an organics program in 2008, and after the success of additional pilot programs in six other neighborhoods, Minneapolis rolled out city-wide curbside organics collection in 2015. 

Approximately 700 households across Linden Hills have not signed up for organics to be collected by the city each week.To help you to get started click here to learn about the benefits of organics recycling and how you can sign up to get a free green bin delivered to your doorstep.

Earth Day Cleanup

This Saturday, April 20

Join us at Linden Hills Park from 9:30 to noon on Saturday April 20, 2024. Rain or shine – we will clean, learn, play, and connect. LHiNC will provide supplies for cleaning up the park and the surrounding area. You can also come to learn about organics recycling, try your hand at our waste sorting game, or simply stop by to meet your neighbors and other community members. 

Bring the kids, too, Jessica Voss, the new librarian at Linden Hills Library will lead a story time at 10:30 a.m. and we will also have coloring supplies available.

Neighborhood Garage Sale Saturday, May 11

Get ready now to take part in the biggest garage

sale in the state on Saturday, May11 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. All garage sale registrants will be included on the official map of the sale, and in promotions for the event on social media, the LHiNC web site and local news sites. Email info@lindenhills.org if you are a business that wishes to be included on the map.

No yard or garage? No problem. Renters and condo-dwellers need not miss out on the resale fun. For the first time ever, LHiNC is sponsoring a Garage Sale group location for people who live in multi-unit buildings. For just $5, you can set up your table at Linden Hills Park during the Neighborhood Garage Sale. You’ll be responsible for set-up, taking care of your items, money-handling and clean-up, just as you would be in a private yard. Share a table with a friend or neighbor or load it up with the things you don’t need anymore, but someone else just might!

Register now, deadline is April 30 to be included in one of the largest neighborhood garage sales in the state.

Go Behind the Scenes During Doors Open Minneapolis May 11 and 12

Everyone loves a contest, right? You may have noticed that the old wooden platform at the Linden Hills Station is gone. We're going back to using the old, refurbished original concrete platform and building a reproduction of the original canopy. Under the old wooden platform were lots of dropped tokens. Your kids, grandkids, and even you may have dropped one, or more. On your next ride, check out the jar of tokens on the counter and guess how many tokens we recovered from under the wooden platform. Linden Hills History 101: Learn the Fascinating Story of Your Neighborhood

Are you new to the area or a long-time resident who would like to know more about Linden Hills? Join the Linden Hills Study Group Monday, May 16, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at St. John's Episcopal Church for Linden Hills 101. Local historians Aron Isaacs and Peter Sussman will share an abbreviated version of Linden Hills rich history: Lake Harriet pavilions, streetcars, a vibrant business district, and the interesting people whose efforts built this special place.

Lake Harriet Lower Elementary Celebrates 100 Years

Lake Harriet Lower Elementary School, previously known as Audubon Elementary, proudly announces its centennial celebration on Saturday, May 11, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at 4030 Chowen Ave. S. There will be games, vintage cars, guided tours of the building and at 2:00 p.m. a time capsule created during the schools construction will be opened.
