Despite a slow start to winter weather, Art Shanty Projects and the Lake Harriet Kite Festival will still take place. The Linden Hills Neighborhood Council is proud to sponsor these returning events in 2024.

Get Your COVID, Flu and RSV Vaccines

Immunizations are available that can help protect against three major respiratory diseases: COVID-19, flu and RSV. Immunization against these viruses remains the best protection for reducing the risk of serious illness, hospitalizations, long-term health impacts and death.

Protection From Heat Being Shut Off

The Cold Weather Rule is now in effect. The Cold Weather Rule means that if you can’t pay your home heat bill, your heat can’t be shut off Oct. 1- April 30. If you get a notice about disconnecting your primary heat source, make sure to immediately contact the utility and set up a payment plan. Find resources on the State of Minnesota Website.

Free Sand for Sidewalks

Minneapolis Residents can get free sand to spread on your snow packed or icy sidewalks. More information and locations here.

In the event you forgot - the City of Minneapolis has quite a few restrictions and rules when it snows. The good news is they have prepared a very informative website to help residents stay informed. Visit the website here, and you can sign up for emergency alerts as well.

Newest LHiNC Board Member

At their January 2nd meeting, the Linden Hills Neighborhood Council elected a new member, Dave Truesdale, to its 15-person volunteer board. A resident of Linden Hills for the last four years, Dave and his wife moved to Minneapolis with a desire for a community with caring neighbors, walkability and excellent schools. As a board member, Dave's first project will be to work on the Zoning & Housing committee, and also research other opportunities that make Linden Hills a vibrant, inclusive and thriving place to live, work and visit. Welcome, Dave!

Wild Rumpus

New Year, New Owners

Collette Morgan, Owner of Wild Rumpus, announced her retirement after 31 years of running the bookstore. Her fans will miss her but she has assured everyone that she is leaving Wild Rumpus in the best of hands.

She said, "It is my great pleasure to announce that Wild Rumpus Books has been acquired by this group of excellent booksellers, Timothy Otte, Jessica Fuentes, Beth Wilson and Anna Hersh". There are some fun events planned check them out here.

Loon State Physical Therapy

Dr. Jessie Parrish, at Loon State Physical Therapy, is hosting a Weightlifting Workshop on February 29th, at 5:00 p.m. at their Linden Hills clinic location (4420 Drew Ave S). It is free to you and anyone you bring with you.

Jessie plans to bring comfort and understanding surrounding a relatively ‘scary’ piece of equipment to those who haven’t used it before, the barbell. Loon State Physical Therapy loves utilizing a barbell in their clinics across their whole team, and want to build more comfort with how to wield it in your own fitness practices with this workshop. The Next LHiNC Board Meeting

At this meeting LHiNC will discuss routing $25,000 of legacy city funding (NRP) to pay for some of the staff salary of the Linden Hills Neighborhood Council, as well as other Communications and Community Outreach projects.
