The board of directors, executive board members, planners and partners of the Liberia Music Awards extend thanks and appreciation to all of you for the numerous strides and efforts you have exerted in the promotion of Liberian creativity and innovation. The Liberia Music Awards Foundation, through the nomination committee have vetted through various industry personalities and experts and confirmed the following individual and arts for this year's award. Work released December 2015 - May 2017
Initially planned for Liberia, the prevailing political stalemate, hampered preparations which why we have reverted to host in the USA for one final time.
In fulfillment of our tradition, paying homage the legendary pioneers, this year's honoree for the Lifetime Achievement Award is Professor Jones Dopoe. Professor Dopoe is a pioneer of Liberian traditional folk songs. He is an innovator a trendsetter and a role model for many. From a humble background and with simple crude instruments his genius and mastery of performing art won the heart of the entire nation. For over three decades our honoree has spoken to the conscience of the nation through his inspirational songs. Today all Liberians and many Africans agree that indeed "sweet sweet cassava leaf is not for goat alone, you take it for me today someone will take it from you tomorrow". Congratulation professorwe are deeply grateful for your immense contribution.
Finally, we want to use this time honor and pay tribute to all our fallen artists especially the two giants we lost this year: Quincy Burrowes and Madam Tokay Tomah. Your indelible marks will forever be visible in our industry.
