All Things Relative: Finding Family at the Library
Interested in searching for your ancestors? Join us Thursday, July 8, at 4:00 pm as we explore genealogy with Historian and Librarian Kathy Nielsen. This month’s topic will be "A New Life for Old Photos: Identifying, Organizing, and Restoring Photos." Photos capture our stories and those of family and friends who lived before us, giving us insights into the world of our ancestors. But our photo collections can be overwhelming: many of us have hundreds if not thousands of photos, and most are decades old. So where do we start? Kathy Nielsen is an educator and storyteller widely recognized for her expertise in genealogy. Sign up for Kathy’s fascinating virtual program here, or call (831) 646-3933.

The Boys of Summer Play Ball!
Did you know that Monterey has a minor league baseball team? The Monterey Amberjacks are in the Pecos League, and play in Sollecito Park, next to Lake El Estero in Monterey. This weekend they play the Santa Cruz Seaweed on Saturday, July 10, and the Bakersfield Train Robbers on July 11! Come support one of those games. Major League Baseball is in full swing, with the San Francisco Giants in first place in the National League, and the Oakland A's in second place in their division. The All-Star Game (a mid-season tradition) takes place this week on July 13 in Denver, Colorado. And of course, MPL has your bases covered with a wide variety of baseball books and movies. Just call us at (831) 646-3933 to request some!
