The interactive exhibit uses games, activities, and a fun storyline to help children understand what money is, its function in society, money choices, and money values such as fairness, responsibility, and charitableness. Bismarck Veterans Memorial Public Library is one of just 50 libraries nationwide selected to host Thinking Money for Kids. Meeting Room A

Join nationally recognized historian, author, and public humanities scholar Clay Jenkinson in discussion with historian and former Bismarck State College president Dr. Larry Skogen to explore the historical factors that led to the development of the Bank of North Dakota at a time of widespread agrarian discontent. North Dakota is the only state with a people-owned bank—as well as a state-owned grain mill and elevator. Skogen and Jenkinson will examine the 1917-1919 origins of the Bank in the work of the Nonpartisan League, led by agrarian radical A.C. Townley.
