Let the Summer Fun Begin! | |
Summer Reading Kickoff
Friday, June 3, 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM
Library Plaza
Join us outside on the plaza to enjoy some fresh air and peppy music as we kick off the summer reading season. This year's theme is Oceans of Possibilities, and the library is the place to explore an endless sea of possibilities through books, movies, audiobooks, digital resources, and so much more. Our kickoff event this year focuses on helping readers register through Beanstack, our online reading platform. We'll also have temporary tattoos, bookmarks, and our famous button-making station where participants can design their own buttons. Teen HQ will be open for visits by students entering grades 6-12, and the Burleigh County Bookmobile will be available for visitors to hop on and look around. We hope you can stop by to enjoy some summer reading fun with us! If you are unable to come to the kickoff, you can register for the summer reading program any time online on the Beanstack website.

Outdoor Adventures Begin @ the Library
Summer is here! There's no better time to stop by the library to check out a North Dakota State Park pass and get outdoors to explore all the natural beauty our state has to offer. A park pass grants free daily vehicle entry into any state park in North Dakota, including great nearby parks like Cross Ranch, Lake Sakakawea, Fort Stevenson, and Fort Abraham Lincoln. To make your outdoor adventure extra fun, the library also has fishing poles (with tackle box) and kids' life vests to check out! Park passes check out for seven days; fishing poles and life vests check out for 14 days.

Tiny Art Exhibition
Beginning June 3
Calling all artists! We are holding a tiny art exhibition, and you'll be the featured artist! Pick up a 4" x 4" canvas square at the library, then let your creative juices flow and put it all on the canvas. We recommend using acrylic paint. If you are in need of paint and paintbrushes, we'll have a supply of basic colors to distribute. Once you're done and the paint has dried, bring your mini masterpiece back to be put on display at the library for the public to enjoy. At the end of the exhibition, your piece is yours to keep. Distribution of canvases begins June 3 and continues until supplies are gone - open to youth ages 0-18. This project is supported in part by a grant from the North Dakota Council on the Arts, which receives funding from the state legislature and the National Endowment for the Arts.
