10 REASONS TO LOVE YOUR LIBRARY

February is Library Lovers’ Month! We are back with our annual tradition of highlighting our top 10 reasons to love Redwood City Public Library - what are yours? Let us know by sending us a love letter through the Redwood City Library Foundation!

  1. A Place for EveryoneOur mission is to cultivate community and advance equity by welcoming all people to experience the shared joys of literacy and learning. Libraries are for everyone, and we love connecting our diverse community with the resources and services they need!
  2. RCPL Listens – Every few years, we update our Service Priorities to better serve our community. Be part of the conversation! Join one of our upcoming RCPL Listens sessions and help shape the future of your library.
  3. Roots of Change – Our tree-themed sustainability project connects library resources with efforts to improve long-term environmental and health outcomes in our community.
  4. The Makerspace – Creativity thrives at the Downtown Library’s Makerspace! With 3D printers, sewing and embroidery machines, laser cutters, and Cricut makers, it's the perfect place to tinker, craft and collaborate. From Art Salon to Crafty Wednesdays to LEGO Robotics League, there’s something happening every day for makers of all ages.
  5. Branch libraries – Beyond the Downtown Library, each branch offers its own unique charm. Cozy up in a reading nook at Schaberg Branch Library or explore local marine life at the Redwood Shores Branch Library Interpretive Center.
  6. Events – Whether you are a job seeker, child care-giver, budding robotics engineer, creative crafter, book club kid, or any other interests, we have something for everyone!
  7. Project READ – Our literacy program provides adults, children, and families with free lessons focused on reading, writing and critical thinking skills provided by generous volunteer tutors.
  8. Teen Center - The Teen Center at the Downtown Library is an active hub for teens to connect with each other, play games, study and so much more.
  9. Libby – We love all our online resources, but Libby is a standout favorite! Whether you're commuting, walking, or tackling chores, audiobooks make every moment more enjoyable.
  10. Tech (and tech help) – Stay connected with free WiFi, hotspots, kids iPads, library computers, laptops, chargers and printers. Need help? Drop by Tech Help on Wednesdays from 10am-12pm in the Makerspace.

NEWS FROM THE FOUNDATION

In honor of Love Your Library Month, the Redwood City Library Foundation is again asking you to send a love letter to the library to share why you personally love the library. Is it the books, the programs or events, a librarian, the Makerspace? We got some really great letters last year! The Foundation will post your love letter throughout the month on the bulletin board across from the copiers on the first floor of the Downtown Library.

You can fill out a paper form at any of the three library branches, or submit a form online using this link:

Another way to celebrate Love Your Library Month is to make a donation to the Foundation in honor of a teacher or librarian who inspired you to read. Donate here
