Thank You for Taking Part in Food for Fines!
Our second annual Food for Fines program was a great success thanks to YOU! Over the course of a week we collected nearly 1,000 pounds of food and waived $1,100 in fines. We were thrilled to take 25 boxes of food to NeighborImpact for their Food Bank. Great things happen when we work together. Thank you, Central Oregon!
Author! Author! Season Tickets Now Available
October brings our first author in the 2018/2019 Author! Author! literary series: Maria Semple, author of the best-selling novel Where'd You Go, Bernadette. She joins us on October 5 at Bend High, but tickets are currently available for the full season, which also includes authors Sarah Vowell (Nov. 15 at Bend High), Colum McCann (Feb. 21 at the Riverhouse), and Richard Russo (Mar. 14 at the Riverhouse). Individual tickets go on sale September 21. Visit the Foundation's website for speaking locations and more information about the authors. The annual Author! Author! series is a fundraiser for the Foundation, which supports Library programs and services that are not funded through tax dollars.
A Monthly Writing Group Just for Teens
Teen writers can develop their skills and share their writing at a monthly teen writers meet-up that starts on September 28 at the Downtown Bend Library. The series kicks off with a teen-led discussion on how to best run the group in the upcoming year. This writing group is open to all teen writers of all levels--whether you're honing your craft or simply think you might want to write a book one day. Free; no registration required.
