Don't Miss Award-winning Author Colum McCann on February 21!
Colum McCann, the author of the National Book Award-winning novel  Let the Great World Spin, joins us on February 21 as part of the Author! Author! literary series. Born and raised in Dublin, Ireland, his body of work includes six novels and three short-story collections. With this presentation, Author! Author! moves to  The Riverhouse on the Deschutes, which will also host the private author reception for people with preferred seating tickets. Enjoy a fun evening out for this great event, which includes a no-host bar and engaging literary discussion. Purchase general admission or preferred tickets online here. Author! Author! is an initiative of the Deschutes Public Library Foundation, which funds library programs and services not paid for through tax dollars.
Discover How Much Money Your Library Saves You

If you'd like to discover just how much your library saves you, be sure to check out our new online library value calculatorEnter your library usage (how many and what types of items you check out, reference help, etc.) and see a dollar figure of how much your library usage would cost you if you had to pay for it at retail price. We'll select up to 10 entries at random; those people will receive a free library book bag--which you can fill with books OR all the money you've saved!

Storytime Spotlight: Music, Movement & Stories
Movement and literacy skills are linked. Long-established research shows that movement is a child's preferred mode of learning; in fact, children learn best through active involvement (Olds, 1994). So let's move and learn! Our Music, Movement & Stories sessions (for ages 3-5) give kids the chance to dance, play musical instruments and build motor skills. Upcoming Music, Movement & Stories sessions: 2/14 La Pine; 2/15 Redmond; 2/19 Sunriver; 2/21 D.Bend.
