EG LIBRARY PROGRESS

About 25 EG residents met last week to learn about our new Library. County library staff, the architect and project manager showed drawings of the interior and exterior and a chart of construction milestones, and answered questions. These folks are working very hard on our behalf, to make our vision a reality.

WE are important in deciding the layout and hours of our library. The library will be open 18 hours/week like other libraries of its size. But which days of the week, what resources are available, those are questions they are asking us!

YOUR INPUT IS VITAL TO THE LIBRARY.

Please fill out this brief SURVEY English or SURVEY Spanish and pass it along to your friends. We need lots of responses!

The EG library is even on the county's library website - you can see more drawings there.

A Library Needs Friends

Every library - even one that isn't there yet - should have Friends.

A "Friends of EG Library" group can fundraise for extra amenities in our library, help with summer reading and other programs, and strengthen the connection between our community and our library. If you're interested in being part of the Friends of EG Library send a message to FriendsofEGLibrary@gmail.com

Does starting a Friends group seem like a big task? The Foundation for MCFL helps new and smaller libraries in our 18 library system with ideas and support. They are a nonprofit that can hold money donated specifically for the EG library - there's a fund set up already. You could be among the first to support the EG Library!

Write a Letter for your Library

Money to operate our library is included in the MCFL budget, but the library budget doesn't automatically grow each year. We can help by telling our elected representatives how much we value our library.

You can send a letter in support of the EG library to Sup Root Askew and the Board of Supervisors (write one letter and send to both). Letters from kids are great too!

Talking points:

  • Our bookmobile gets lots of support so we know EG library will be active
  • Good location: people from CSUMB and nearby communities will use the library
  • The children of EG will have a place to do homework
  • The seniors of EG will have a place to gather
  • I will use the library for ...

Budget time is now! Send your letter asap (addresses below)

Make your Opinion Heard!

Again this month, whatever you think, pro- or con-, share your opinions with our representatives
