Coffee with a Vet
Coffe with a Vet Did you know that Sedona Public Library is an official partner with the Library of Congress in the national Veterans History Project? (To learn more, visit the Project's website.) The volunteers of the Veterans History Project are hosting free "Coffee with a Vet" events on Tuesday, August 13, and on Monday, August 26, in the Si Birch Community Room from 10 a.m. to noon. We will be enjoying coffee, cookies, and conversation and sharing information about this worthwhile endeavor. We'd love to have you join us. Bring a friend, your spouse, or your neighbors: especially if they are veterans who have not yet been interviewed. Everyone is welcome!
Recent Additions to Library's Website
Visit our website to explore several new features. We've recently added up-to-date bestsellers lists, recommended reads, new DVD releases, selections from the Sedona Film Festival, and movies filmed in Sedona. If we don't have a title you want, you can suggest a purchase.

Not sure if a title is for you? Watch the publisher-produced book trailer. Want to borrow an e-reader? See if there are any available.

We hope you enjoy the updates. More to come! Feel free to contact us with any suggestions.
August Movies at the Library
Movies The Flicker Shack film series will show four crowd-pleasing movies in August at 6 p.m. in the Si Birch Community Room. On August 5, Latino Services presents an English-language romantic comedy, starring Javier Bardem, Penelope Cruz, and Scarlett Johansson, that takes place in Barcelona. On August 12, don't miss Dustin Hoffman's directorial debut, a film about a quartet of retired opera singers, featuring Maggie Smith and Michael Gambon. The new biopic about Jackie Robinson, starring Chadwick Boseman and Harrison Ford, will be screened on August 19. The critically acclaimed movie about the adventures of two boys who find a man named Mud hiding out on an island in the Mississippi is our August 26 presentation.
Fundraiser for Sedona Public Library in the Village
Sedona Public Library in the Village (SPL-V) is now selling books from Mel Copen's personal library. This ongoing book sale features both hardcover and paperback books. Don't miss this opportunity to purchase books on a wide variety of topics. All proceeds from this unique event will benefit SPL-V. The Library appreciates Beverly Copen's generous donation of Mel's books to support SPL-V.
Foreign-Film Section Debuts in August
Foreign film Starting this month, foreign films will be labeled with a bright red "Foreign Film" sticker. You'll begin seeing the labels on new foreign films added to the popular collection, and in a few weeks, all foreign films in the regular DVD collection will be labeled and separated into their own section. This makes it easier for foreign-film lovers to identify international movies and for those who prefer not to read subtitles to make a different selection. The new foreign-film area will be located next to the Spanish-language film section, which will remain a distinct collection.
