MPL Reopening Its Doors July 27!
|
On Tuesday, July 27, Monterey Public Library will reopen its doors after 500 days of closure. Library hours will be Tuesdays – Saturdays, 10:00 am to 6:00 pm and Sidewalk Service will continue from 10:00 am to Noon. We can't wait to see you!
You’ll see some familiar faces when you walk inside, but much has changed as well. Your safety, and the safety of staff, is our top priority. New measures include:
- Masks will be required to keep everyone safe, especially our youngest readers,
- Fewer computers and chairs, to avoid overcrowding,
- Outside air intake and air filtering systems have been maximized,
- Hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipes available throughout the building,
- Programs remain online or outdoors, and use of meeting rooms is on pause,
- A patron app gives you the option to borrow without stopping at the desk or self-checks.
Please join us as we navigate the post-Covid era, and know that we are happy to see you and help you again!

Water and the West
Last month Monterey had the driest June in 127 years, according to Drought.gov. Monterey is classified as being in “extreme drought.” To help conserve water and live in better harmony with our changing climate, try these conservation websites: Save Our Water, Water Sense (EPA), or the Water Education Foundation. And, as always, contact the Library at refdesk@monterey.org and (831) 646-3933 for books and resources, like those linked above, about droughts.
