A Message from the State Librarian

|
Greetings!
The 2022 Arizona Archives Summit took place January 6th and 7th virtually via Zoom, giving archivists from all over the state an opportunity to participate in presentations and discussions. The Summit is an annual two-day workshop sponsored by the Arizona Historical Records Advisory Board (AHRAB) with support from the Arizona Archives Alliance. Video recordings of the sessions that covered a wide variety of topics of interest to archivists and librarians are now available at https://arizonaarchives.org/2020-arizona-archives-summit-2/. They include:
- Fires, Water Leaks, and Windstorms Oh My! How to Prepare for an Event that Could Place Your Collections at Risk
- Guiding Research in the Archives: Challenges and Solutions for Providing Access
- The Confidential Files: Challenges in Identifying, Keeping and Providing Access to Sensitive Information
- Why am I Scanning This? That is the Question. Access or Preservation?
- Archiving Arizona’s Communities
- Records Management Q&A
- The Shades of Route 66 in Arizona: Celebrating Diversity along Arizona’s Historic Route 66
If you were not able to participate in January, please take advantage of being able to listen in to these sessions at a time that’s convenient for you. Many other live and recorded learning opportunities are also listed below.
Please don’t hesitate to reach out to State Library & Archives staff when we can assist with questions. As a reminder, when using the Ask a Question button on our Arizona State Library (azlibrary.gov) website, you have access to the professional staff, collections, and resources in all our branches.
Stay safe and well,
Holly Henley

BNGR Early Literacy Library Team Launched
|
|
It is estimated that family, friends, and neighbors care for 7 million children under the age of 5 in their homes each day, making it the most prevalent form of regular, nonparental childcare.
In our efforts to reach this underserved group of caregivers the Arizona State Library is launching the BNGR Early Literacy Library Team as a resource for Arizona public libraries.
The purpose of the BNGR Early Literacy Library Team is to expand access to early literacy education for Family, Friend, and Neighbor providers (FFN) across Arizona by presenting early literacy programs for FFN caregivers in libraries, especially public libraries in small and rural communities.
Your library can be a partner in this effort. A member of the BNGR EL Library Team will come to your library to present an early literacy program to FFN caregivers.
All public libraries interested in hosting an early literacy program presented by a member of the BNGR Early Literacy Library Team can learn more at here or by emailing dthrockmorton@azlibrary.gov.
