New Resource Available through the
Arizona Talking Book Library
| |
Patrons can now receive free currency reader devices, referred to as iBill Talking Banknote Identifiers, at the Talking Book Library. These compact devices assist individuals experiencing difficulty identifying U.S. currency due to blindness or low vision. An iBill is the size of a key fob, able to be clipped to a belt, or even attached to a keychain or lanyard. When inserting a bill into the reader and pressing a button on the end, it will announce the bill’s denomination and turn itself off.
Another interesting feature: the iBill has different modes for announcing denominations, the first being standard speech mode. Alternate modes include short-pitched beeps and pulses according to each denomination. If you know of someone who may benefit from an iBill please contact Sara at talkingbooks@https://azlibrary.gov.
