Hello Youth Services Team,
HAPPY NEW YEAR! I am excited to start a new year at the New Mexico State Library and spread the word about some new 2023 initiatives.
We are starting a new Youth Services Monthly Meet-Up - to be held the third Friday of each month at 12pm, full details below - and a new Youth Services Quarterly Book Club - also see below for full details. Both of these initiatives offer an opportunity to meet other Youth Services staff from around the state, get feedback and offer support. I hope to see a good turn-out for both.
There is a lot of good information in this month's newsletter, so please read it all. I am working on updating the Youth Services portion of the new NMSL website. It's a work in progress - but you can already access all the back issues of the Youth Services newsletter here. If you have specific information you'd like to see added to the website, please let me know.
And, as always, don't forget to look for the Prize Raffle link in the newsletter!
~Kelly

Exciting New Resource!
The New Mexico State Library has a new Early Literacy Calendar for you to share with your patrons. Based on the Every Child Ready to Read® practices of reading, writing, singing, talking, playing, and counting - one side is a calendar with a fun skills-building activity for each day and the other contains supplementary content like nursery rhymes, early literacy tips, song lyrics, or suggested reading material. Available in English and Spanish.
All months are available from the NMSL Niche Academy site for easy access and downloading. Access here - and then add to your website or print and distribute to patrons.
