PARTNER CORNER
D ame la Mano, Hand in Hand
In collaboration with our partners, Speech Goals, we have embarked on a new storytime adventure, "Dame la Mano, Hand in Hand." This monthly bilingual storytime is tailored to children 18 months to 3 years with speech delay, autism or other special needs. In addition to storytime, we practice music, art and movement at this engaging and supportive program.

"Some of our families do not have the resources to have books in their homes. They enjoy receiving a book and this gives them an opportunity to now read to their child at home," said Speech Goals. "Also through this event our hope is that the parents become more comfortable going to the library so that they can give their children exposure to reading. It has impacted our families in a positive way and we appreciate our collaboration with Redwood City Library and the Youth Services staff."

Speech Goals is a pediatric speech-language pathology center specializing in evaluations, diagnosis, individualized and group treatments for children 0-18.

BOOK CORNER
Exercise Your Right to Read
Words Have Power Catcher in the Rye . . . Of Mice and Men . . . Harry Potter . . . What's your favorite book? Chances are good that someone has tried to ban it. Every year, libraries across the nation celebrate Banned Books Week at the end of September. We created a Banned Books list featuring the most challenged books of the last two years. Celebrate your freedom to read!
DID YOU KNOW?
The library has citizenship resources!
ProCitizen is an online tool to help you prepare for the civics, reading, and writing portions of the naturalization test. With 100 videos plus interactive drills and quizzes, you will learn everything you need to succeed. Get started here.

Citizenship Corner
To better serve the many immigrants in our community, we now have a Citizenship Corner at the Downtown Library. The materials provide information about the naturalization process, citizenship test, green cards, and more. The Corner contains free handouts from the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services department, such as "10 Steps to Naturalization" and the "USCIS Naturalization Interview and Test" DVD. A Citizenship Corner for the Fair Oaks Branch Library is coming soon. We also created an online booklist to represent the items in the collection.
