Join us for Summer Reading 2026

Get ready to dig into a great book, uncover hidden histories, and explore the past with our 2026 Summer Reading program, Unearth a Story! Registration officially opens on Friday, June 19, and readers of all ages have until August 31 to log their minutes and complete exciting reading challenges. When kids sign up, they’ll grab a free book right off the bat, plus they can earn great weekly rewards—including a special library beach towel for reaching 900 minutes! Teens can also enter to win grand prize raffle drawings throughout the summer for popular items like tech gear, local business gift cards, and book bundles. Every minute logged helps our community reach a grand total goal to unlock brand-new games and STEM activities for the Children's Room. Check out this year's Summer Reading Video for inspiration and sign up online or in the Children's Room starting June 19! Information on how adults can participate will be forthcoming.

Write Your Next Chapter

Connect with fellow writers and elevate your craft in two unique June workshops

Unleash your imagination this June with two distinct writing workshops at the library. Whether you want to map out a brand-new story idea or refine a manuscript you've been polishing for years, the library is your creative sandbox this month. We are hosting two parallel writing tracks to help you elevate your craft and find your community:

Kick off your month with Creative Writing with The Forge on Tuesday, June 2 from 6 to 8 PM. This presentation shows adult creative writers how to bring their poetry, fiction, or nonfiction writing to the next level. Whether you'd like to submit writing to a journal or a publisher or just want to improve your writing for your own satisfaction, the craft techniques presented in this class can help you create a more polished, professional draft! This program is presented by Ellen Santarsiero from the FORGE.  Register here.

If you are looking for a multi-session series, join local writer and educator Piet Marino for Creative Writing for Adults on Mondays, June 8 and June 22 from 7 PM to 8:30 PM in the Computer Lab. Co-sponsored by Saratoga Pride, these workshops blend creative prompts, conversation, and peer exchange to help writers break through blocks and tap into fresh ideas. All experience levels are welcome—come to connect with fellow writers, explore new forms, and leave with pages of new work and renewed inspiration. Register here.

Get Your Program Guide for May & June 2026

Our Program Guide for May and June is available online and in-house. Saratoga Springs Public Library prints limited quantities of the guide, which covers two months of programming at a time. There, you will find additional programming details, and if required, have the ability to register.

Support the Read to Recovery Library

Since launching, the Saratoga Springs Public Library's free Read to Recovery collection, the initiative has secured more than $25,000 in donations and grants through a variety of generous community supporters.
