If you are comfortable with an online format, we encourage you to help us conserve resources by choosing that option, and visiting our online link to the guide or our Events Calendar at www.sspl.org where you will find these, other programming, details, and have the ability to register.

Growing Towards Sustainability

Practicing Sustainability during the Holiday Season

The holiday season is upon us, and it's a time for giving and sharing. Whether you're preparing for gift and food shopping or looking for ways to support your community, there are various options to consider that keep a sustainable mindset:

  1. Buy gently used at the Friends of the Saratoga Springs Public Library Book Shop.
  2. Borrow a book on crafting, baking or gift wrapping from the library - you can Do-it-Yourself (DIY) if you have the time.
  3. Take a class at the library - learn how to use your iPhone camera, shop online to ship direct to your loved ones, or plan a trip of a lifetime to create memories and experiences.

In addition to these ideas, let's also remember that not everyone has a stable home during this time. Consider making a donation to a local non-profit of your choice or volunteering your time to help those in need. The spirit of giving can truly make a difference in the lives of all members of our community.

The Alzheimer's Association of Northeastern New York will return to SSPL Tuesdays, November 7 & 14 at 10 a.m. to discuss the basics of Alzheimer’s disease and dementia. In the United States alone, more than 5 million individuals are living with Alzheimer’s and 16 million are serving as their unpaid caregivers. The disease is a global crisis that impacts numerous families right here in our community. However, no one has to face this disease alone or without information.
