trimCity Tree Trimming Program
Annual rotating grid pruning currently underway

The Burlingame Parks Division Tree Crew is currently trimming City street trees on the 1300, 1400, and 1500 blocks between Easton and Adeline from Alvarado to Vancouver. The trimming is part of our annual rotating grid pruning program. The program was initiated several years ago, and our goal is to trim or inspect every tree within the specified grid. The intent of the City is to trim so that the tree will not need to be trimmed for another 4-5 years.

The type of basic work that will be seen on some common trees is listed below:
  • Liquidambars - deadwood removed, raised and thinned
  • Magnolias- thinned, all deadwood removed
  • Camphors - raised, thinned, deadwood removed
  • Evergreen Pears - deadwood removed, shaped
  • Flowering Plums - deadwood removed, raised
  • Sycamores - trimmed by city contractor- height reduced and deadwood removed
  • Young trees - re-staked and pruned to establish correct growth habits

If you are interested in learning more about City tree management policies and procedures, you can locate them on the City website under Park and Recreation page.
