Rebecca Roanhorse describes herself as a “writer of speculative fiction and other stuff.” Fevered Star is her latest, a sequel to 2020’s Black Sun. We return to The Meridian: a land where magic has been codified and the worship of gods suppressed. How do you live when legends come to life, and the faith you had is rewarded? When the body of one of her students is discovered in her rented room shortly after attending one of her lectures, she is disinclined to accept the official verdict of suicide and determines to find out how and why the girl really died.
