Hello Eaglebrook Family:
We (the elder board) want to work on increasing communications as we have received feedback that this is needed. To that end, we will begin adding a short segment into the newsletter highlighting what we have been up to. This will be in addition to the minutes from our monthly board meetings that you already receive.
In this first edition, I (Ray) want to focus on our new(er) mission statement and begin to focus on what we are currently doing around each of the three tenants. The mission statement reads: Eaglebrook Church exists to Connect people to God and to others through weekly worship services, small groups and other gatherings. We strive to Empower people through Bible based training with the goal of releasing them into ministry. The people of Eaglebrook will have significant Impact locally through outreach and globally through missions support and participation. We have been implementing some new things in several areas. The first one I will highlight this week is in the area of empowerment.
You will notice that Arnie will be preaching more often in the coming months. We have two great teachers, and we want to empower both of them to more fully use their gifts. So when you see Arnie preaching, you can also think that this then frees Steve up to engage in other pastoral duties, like counseling, planning and contacting members (which was primarily Arnie’s domain in the past). Both of our pastors have a lot to offer and adjusting the workloads a little is expected to allow both to grow and flourish. We think this will not only empower them, but also make room for every member to participate in ministry more fully. I’ll talk a little more about empowering members in a future column. Ministry is not a spectator sport! We will strive to empower every member to be a minister. More fully utilizing the gifts that God has given each of us to do the work of bringing the world to Christ and Christ to the world.
Peace and Blessings
