COVID-Safe Virtual Church Events and Programs
Due to the continuing concerns of COVID-19 and the Delta variant, the following events and programs will remain virtual in the Fall. More details will follow for each event and program.

Confirmation classes will be held virtually via Zoom. Confirmation Sunday will be on June 5, 2022 for the senior class (2 year program).

First Communion classes will be held virtually via Zoom. Those who started 5th grade in September 2021 will go through the program in the Spring for Palm Sunday 2022.
COVID Safety for New Groups
Many groups and organizations are occupying space at Good Shepherd. The Chinese Community Center of NJ (CCCNJ) occupies the church premises on Saturdays and is in session until 12PM. We ask that if you need to visit the church on Saturdays, to please do so after 12PM. If you need to visit before that timeframe, you will be subject to temperature checks to strictly adhere to the CCCNJ COVID protocols.

The Glen Rock Community School, preschool and adult classes, occupy the church Monday through Friday, varying at different times, but generally between 9AM-3PM. We ask that if you visit the church during our office hours of 9AM-3PM, to be extra careful driving in the parking lots as small children will be present.

We ask that you wear a mask when entering the building for any reason. Please minimize interactions with all groups present at the time of visiting.

Women's Bible Study
Starting in October we will begin a unique Bible study using Women of the Bible: 52 Bible studies for Individuals and Groups, by Jean E. Syswerda, as a guide. Each chapter presents a different woman from scripture. A two page narrative on the woman with key scriptures is followed by a study using stimulating questions for discussion.

An interested participant recently wrote: "The book arrived yesterday and I've been looking it over. Some of the names I've never heard before: Rizpah, Huldah and others. Some I've forgotten about until I read the contents: The Queen of Sheba, Potiphar's wife and others. This will be a real learning experience for me."

The group will meet every other week beginning on October 11th at 7:30PM via Zoom. Any questions? You can reach out to Lillian Ostrander, Carol Voss or Dorothy Gall. You will need to purchase the book to fully participate in the Bible study. We are all very excited about this new group. Please join us.

Good Shepherd
Book Group
The chosen book for the next Good Shepherd Book Group virtual meeting is The Light Between Oceans
by M.L. Stedman.

"Australia, 1926. After four harrowing years fighting on the Western Front, Tom Sherbourne returns home to take a job as the lighthouse keeper on Janus Rock, nearly half a day's journey from the coast. To this isolated island, where the supply boat comes once a season and shore leaves are granted every other year at best, Tom brings a young, bold, and loving wife, Isabel. Years later, after two miscarriages and one stillbirth, the grieving Isabel hears a baby's cries on the wind. A boat has washed up onshore carrying a dead man and a living baby.

Tom, whose records as a lighthouse keeper are meticulous and whose moral principles have withstood a horrific war, wants to report the man and infant immediately. But Isabel has taken the tiny baby to her breast. Against Tom's judgment, they claim her as their own and name her Lucy. When she is two, Tom and Isabel return to the mainland and are reminded that there are other people in the world. Their choice has devastated one of them.

M. L. Stedman's mesmerizing, beautifully written debut novel seduces us into accommodating Isabel's decision to keep this "gift from God." And we are swept into a story about extraordinarily compelling characters seeking to find their North Star in a world where there is no right answer, where justice for one person is another's tragic loss." (Description by Goodreads)

A book group discussion will be held on Saturday, November 13 at 7PM via Zoom. See the invitation below.

You can join in this ministry by shopping for a few items when you are at the store and dropping them off any day at church. Our office hours are 9AM-3PM. We are especially looking for cereal, beans, rice (small bags), diapers and wipes.
