The Greensboro Youth Chorus is a performance-based music education organization that instills the love of music and singing together in children. GYC also enriches singers’ lives through social experience in friendship, cultural awareness, and community involvement.
Registration is open through February 2022. GYC has membership and registration fees, but scholarships are available.

Eight local cities and towns and Guilford County have launched the Piedmont Discovery Scavenger Hunt. The countywide, 12-month contest will give away more than $2,000 worth of prizes from All-A-Flutter Butterfly Farms, Blue Duck, Fleet Feet, Great Outdoor Provision Company, Greensboro Coliseum, Greensboro Science Center, Kersey Valley, NC Zoo, REI Co-op Greensboro, Triad United Rowing Association, and local parks and recreation departments. FREE At-Home COVID-19 Tests Available via Postal Service! |

Every household in the U.S. is eligible to order 4 FREE at-home COVID-19 tests:
Orders placed today will usually ship by the end of the month.
The tests available for order:
- Are rapid antigen at-home tests, not PCR
- Can be taken anywhere (no drop-off required)
- Provide results within 30 minutes or less
- Work regardless of any COVID-19 symptoms

RENT AND UTILITY ASSISTANCE: |

Low Income Household Water Assistance Program |
|
Households that have had their water services cut off or are in danger of being cut off can apply for assistance in paying their bill through the Low-Income Household Water Assistance Program (LIHWAP). LIHWAP is a temporary emergency program that will help eligible households and families afford water and wastewater services.
The program provides a one-time payment directly to the utility company. LIHWAP runs through September 2023 or until the funds run out.

Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP) |

|
|
The Low-Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP) is a federally-funded program that provides a one-time vendor payment to help eligible households pay their heating bills. Applications will be accepted from January 1, 2022, through March 31, 2022, or until funds are exhausted.

Greensboro Fire Department presents Camp Spark. A free five-day camp that introduces females to the fire service in an interactive and engaging environment. The goal of Camp Sparks is to instill self-confidence and encourage perseverance while stressing the importance of keeping a good attitude, showing respect, and gaining knowledge. Campers will learn the value of leadership, teamwork, and learning the basics of firefighting from female firefighters.

Amanda Ireland Ward Scholarship Program |
|
Applications are now being accepted for the Amanda Ireland Ward Memorial Scholarship.
The $500 scholarship is open to Guilford County graduating seniors who exude a spirit of service to others, a value in caring for and connecting with all people, and leadership inside and outside the classroom as illustrated through a written essay, demonstrated academic achievements, and a recommendation from a mentor, teacher, or coach.
Applications must be postmarked or dropped off at the Kellin Foundation office no later than February 15, 2022.

The Lifetime Learning Credit (LLC) is for qualified tuition and related expenses paid for eligible students enrolled in an eligible educational institution. This credit can help pay for undergraduate, graduate, and professional degree courses — including courses to acquire or improve job skills. There is no limit on the number of years you can claim the credit. It is worth up to $2,000 per tax return. |

From Microsoft Office and email, to reading, math, creativity and design, and more — GCFLearnFree.org offers more than 200 topics, including over 2,000 lessons, more than 1,000 videos, and more than 50 interactives and games, completely free.

THE FAMILY SELF-SUFFICIENCY PROGRAM (FSS) |
|
The Family Self-Sufficiency Program (FSS) is a voluntary program for households enrolled in the Public Housing, Housing Choice Voucher, or Project-Based Section 8 programs that helps them increase their earnings and build financial capability and assets.
The Escrow (Savings) Account:
When a participant’s rent increases due to an increase in earnings, the amount of the increase is placed in a savings account for the participant. A participant is eligible to receive all of the money in the account, plus interest once the FSS Contract is complete.

Cone Health is offering a series of mobile COVID-19 vaccine clinics throughout our communities.
VACCINES ARE FREE. No ID Required. Appointments are strongly encouraged.
Please wear a mask, plan to remain socially distanced, and wear loose clothing.
What To Expect
- Wait time of 15 minutes after vaccination or 30 minutes with prior history of vaccination reactions.
- Common side effects: pain and swelling at the injection site, fever, chills, tiredness, and headaches

IMPORTANT: Pfizer clinics are for ages 12+. All other vaccine types are 18+.
