OPPORTUNITIES FOR YOUTH:

Youth Leadership Greensboro Now Accepting Applications

Greensboro Parks and Recreation is now accepting applications for Youth Leadership Greensboro (YLG), a leadership development program for high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors.


Applications are available online. The deadline to apply is September 22. 


The program costs $80 for the year and fee assistance is available.

CAREER AND JOB TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES:

The City of Greensboro Water Resources Department is Hiring

The NCWorks’ Mobile Career Center will be at the City of Greensboro Water Resources Department interviewing for crew member positions. The MCC will also assist clients with job search, resume prep, and career exploration.

North Carolina Is Working to Attract and

Retain Early Childhood Teachers

North Carolina is making it easier for aspiring and current early childhood teachers to get classroom experience and college credit to meet the state’s growing childcare needs. The NC Department of Health and Human Services announced that early care and learning teachers can now use their previous training and skills development to qualify for NC Community College credits to earn certificates and further their higher education. High school students can now also use career and technical education courses and apprenticeship opportunities to get a head start on a career as an early childhood teacher.

Family Self-Sufficiency Program

The Family Self-Sufficiency Program (FSS) is a voluntary program for households enrolled in Public Housing, Housing Choice Voucher, and Project-Based Voucher programs to help them increase their earnings and build financial capability and assets.

Community COVID-19 Vaccine Clinics
Cone Health is offering a series of mobile COVID-19 vaccine clinics throughout our communities.


VACCINES ARE FREE. No ID Required. Appointments are strongly encouraged.

Please wear a mask, plan to remain socially distanced, and wear loose clothing.

What To Expect
  • Wait time of 15 minutes after vaccination or 30 minutes with prior history of vaccination reactions.
  • Common side effects: pain and swelling at the injection site, fever, chills, tiredness, and headaches
  • For Pfizer and Moderna clinics, you will receive an appointment date for your second shot

IMPORTANT: Pfizer clinics are for ages 12+. All other vaccine types are 18+.
