Ray Warren Afterschool Tutoring

Youth Leadership Greensboro Now Accepting Applications

Greensboro Parks and Recreation is now accepting applications for Youth Leadership Greensboro (YLG), a leadership development program for high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors.

Applications are available online. The deadline to apply is September 22. 

The program costs $80 for the year and fee assistance is available.

Goodwill Industries: Microlearning

Did you know that Goodwill Industries offers self-paced lessons you can access anytime?

Microlearning is designed with you in mind.

Learn at your own pace. Practice as much as you need to. Assess your skills when you are ready, and display the certificate you receive.

Microlearning training topics include Digital Skills, Employability, Leadership, Core Skills, and Professional Development.

Searching for a job can be a difficult and sometimes frustrating task. This training session is designed to assist you with the most current job-searching methods and to develop a plan to maximize your searching potential. Topics reviewed will include:

  • Learning the concept of networking and how this can enhance your job search.
  • Develop strategies for a targeted job search.
  • How to use keywords for your online job search.
  • Uploading your resume into online accounts.

This training session teaches you how to prepare a professional resume that reflects your skills, knowledge, and experience that are relevant to the job you are seeking. Topics reviewed will include:

  • Defining what a resume is and its purpose.
  • Learning different resume formats and the advantages and disadvantages of each.
  • Step-by-step creation of the most common sections found on resumes.
  • Learning what information should be included and what mistakes to avoid.
  • How to prepare and develop a targeted resume.

This training session will help you prepare to articulate your skills, knowledge, and work experiences for your job interview. Learn how to address common interview questions and preparation strategies. Topics will include:

  • How to prepare for virtual interviews.

  • Employ effective and successful follow-up strategies.
  • Keys to re-branding yourself.
  • Identifying the appropriate attire for an interview.

Family Self-Sufficiency Program

The Family Self-Sufficiency Program (FSS) is a voluntary program for households enrolled in Public Housing, Housing Choice Voucher, and Project-Based Voucher programs to help them increase their earnings and build financial capability and assets.

Community COVID-19 Vaccine Clinics
Cone Health is offering a series of mobile COVID-19 vaccine clinics throughout our communities.

VACCINES ARE FREE. No ID Required. Appointments are strongly encouraged.

Please wear a mask, plan to remain socially distanced, and wear loose clothing.

What To Expect
  • Wait time of 15 minutes after vaccination or 30 minutes with prior history of vaccination reactions.
  • Common side effects: pain and swelling at the injection site, fever, chills, tiredness, and headaches
  • For Pfizer and Moderna clinics, you will receive an appointment date for your second shot

IMPORTANT: Pfizer clinics are for ages 12+. All other vaccine types are 18+.
