Dawn's Place Newsletter Fall 2025

Life at Dawn’s Place

You may have heard about the recent kitchen fire at our home, and we wanted to share our progress with you. We're embracing this time as a season of renewal—not just for our building, but for our team and program as well. Right now, we're working with contractors to assess the full scope of repairs.

In the past weeks, all of our program staff met with our program therapist to deepen trauma-sensitive practices and strengthen the care we provide. Since we're usually staffed 24-7, it's rare to have this kind of focused time together, and it's been a real gift. We're using this pause to reaffirm our commitment and prepare to serve residents even better when we reopen.

We'll continue to keep you updated as repairs progress and thank you for standing with us through this season of transformation.

Pennsylvania Takes Step to Combat Trafficking Through Industry Training

Pennsylvania is taking action against trafficking with House Bill 1286, legislation that would mandate human trafficking awareness training for all employees in the hospitality industry, transforming front line workers into equipped allies in the fight against exploitation. The measure, sponsored by PA State Rep Regina Young, would require all employees at hotels, motels, short-term rental operations, and third-party contractors must complete state-approved human trafficking awareness training within 90 days of hiring.

Sweetie, what do you like to do as the weather gets colder? Right now, I'm enjoying the sunbeams in our Ecotherapy Sunroom at Teresita House. It's filled with light, warmth and beautiful plants donated by our supporters. It's a peaceful retreat where I can hop into a sun patch and listen to the calming sounds of our water fountain!
