A Word from Father Mike

Like a Tree Planted by Water
Our forebears in faith were desert dwellers who knew well what it was to experience dry wind, drought and desolate land. No doubt, we too, can resonate with this experience in our own lives. Yet, God has promised us an experience of blessedness that the scriptures this Sunday describe as being like a tree planted by water that bears fruit in and out of season. Is that possible? How might we become that tree?

Family Church and Sunday School
|
Family Church
Have I mentioned how I LOVE Family Church?! The children all did such an amazing job this week. Many thanks to Jocelynn Dilkes, Jack Latson & Colin Carr (first time reader) for reading so beautifully; Luke Latson, Koen Vonderahe & Frankie Hunkele who were so helpful ushering; and last minute element bearers Alexandra Hunkele and my new friend Jackson who so carefully delivered the gifts! The Children's Choir also did a lovely job singing. Thanks, Mr. John!
Our next Family Church is March 10th so make sure you reach out so your child(ren) have an opportunity to share their gifts with the congregation through this special service.
Sunday School
No Sunday School this Sunday due to the school vacation so make sure you come next week (24th)! Next week will be our last Sunday with a fabulous group of teachers. We are so blessed as a parish to have Serena Watkinson (preK-K), Liz Muller (1st-3rd) and Mary Beth Weber (4th-6th) working with our children! We also had Emily Blake greet for our littlest ones each week and a wonderful crew of greeters for 1st-3rd grade including Patty Vitiello, Carolyn Wescott, Mary Shearin and Kevin Hersh. Many, many thanks to them all!!
Peace & Love,

Holy Communion Recognition

HOLY COMMUNION RECOGNITION
St. Peter's Church wants to celebrate the importance of receiving
Communion for children and their families and has designated May 4, 2019 as Holy Communion Recognition Sunday. The Episcopal Church does not call this First Communion because many of these children have already received Communion as small children.
Three interesting and engaging classes have been designed to help the children, second grade and older, prepare for this special day. Please mark these Saturdays on your calendars:
April 13
th
- 10:30 am
April 27
th
- 10:30 am
May 4
th
- 10:30 am
Father Mike would like to speak with the parents at the time of the first class. Liz Muller will be teaching the classes with me. We are looking forward to making this day and the preparation fun and meaningful. More information will be coming.
Please call or email me if you are interested and looking forward to this program for your children.
Blessings,
