As a university student, your privacy protections are different than how they are when you're a high school student.
While in high school, your parents/guardians have access to your records, grades, financial accounts, etc. They may access your personal information and communicate with your teachers and school administrators to keep track of your progress and make any changes.
When you become a university student, you have control over your records.
You, not your parents, are responsible for communicating with CWU and the High School Partnerships office if any changes need to be made. By logging into your MyCWU account, you can change your preferred name, update your address, check your financials and pay a bill, confirm that you are enrolled, check your grade, order transcripts and more.
By law, CWU and the HSP office cannot communicate any personal information to your parents/guardians without your permission. FERPA prevents it.
If you want, you can give your parent/guardian permission and access to your account. Here's how:
- Log into your MyCWU account.
- Click on "Student" tab (top center)
- Click on "Personal" tab (left hand column) > Release of Information
- Add Designee, follow prompts
Congratulations on accepting adult responsibility and managing your records and privacy!
