Transitions Update From Your Vestry at COHS

Members of your Vestry from L to R:

Eric Hunt, Mo Higgins, Bill Kerwin, Emily Knorr, Rick Alderfer, Kirk Walters, Al Stevens, Kathy Clipp, Susan Fisher, Brian Ray

Dear Friends,

Many thanks to Rev. Dean Bickel for presiding and Deacon Johnine Byrer for preaching on New Year’s Eve. Some of our young adults and children’s choir members, and Kent, Jesse, and Jack Lloyd provided wonderful music for us.

This coming weekend, our youth and young adults will be heading to Spruce Lake for their annual retreat. Thanks to Karen Work, Wes Paul, and all the chaperones and volunteers who made this possible this year! Also, we are grateful for all the food donations made by members of the congregation.

It has been a while since we have had any measurable snow, but this upcoming weekend may break that drought. Should there be a need to change plans, we will post information on the website and send an email announcement to the congregation.

Our stewardship team led by Al Stevens and Rick Alderfer would like to complete last year’s stewardship campaign and finalize our pledge numbers for 2024. If you have not already done so, please complete your giving for fiscal year 2023 and if you are able, please send in a pledge for this coming year. As always, we are grateful for your financial support.

Lenten Retreat: Mark your calendars for Saturday 2/24 for a retreat at COHS led by Rev. Dr. Christian Brocato entitled "Trust in God". The retreat will include brief conferences, Scripture readings and times of silence for meditation and writing. The retreat will be held from 10 AM to 2 PM and will include a light lunch. Parishes in our Deanery will be invited to attend. We are thankful Christian offered this opportunity for prayer and reflection during Lent. Stay tuned for more information and registration details, and please join us if you can!

Thank you for keeping Church of the Holy Spirit in your prayers, presence, and actions of support.

Blessing and gratitude,

Kirk P. Walters,

Rector’s Warden

A Note From Deacon Johnine

Dear Ones,

Happy, Happy New Year to us all!!! May our year ahead bring us great joy, buckets of peace, and along the way an extraordinary rector to lead us in this new year.

Having the congregation stand up and sing "The Hallelujah Chorus" on New Year's Eve Day was over the top inspiring and uplifting. Thank you so much for doing this Sue Ellen. I was thinking any applicant would be lucky to be our next rector!!!! WE ARE AWESOME!!!! It was a fabulous way to end the year and begin a new year the next day!!!

A PS from my recent sermon about the children who were Secret Santas in Phoenix, Arizona. Just click here , and you will be happy to see this three minute video of what happened. I like spreading good news!!!

Blessings to all of us!!!

Johnine
