Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes... A preview of the year ahead.
We're only a few weeks into the new year and 2017 is already shaping up to be a memorable year in the life of UCP Central PA. Not only is significant change coming... it's already arrived at 55 Utley Drive in Camp Hill. That's the new location for many UCP program and administrative staff who have moved from three Camp Hill locations to share offices under one roof.

Another pivotal (albeit bittersweet) change is afoot in the first half of 2017: a change at the top for UCP. After 16 years of transformative leadership and tireless advocacy of the agency, UCP President and CEO Jeff Cooper has announced his retirement effective April 30. Under Jeff's direction and guidance, UCP has experienced substantial growth, not only in our geographic footprint, but in the scope and innovation of our program offerings

During the latter half of 2016, the UCP Board of Directors undertook the monume ntal task of seeking a new CEO who would have the experience, skills, and vision to lead and grow UCP as we move forward in this new era. After months of searching, interviewing, and face-to-face presentations, the Board decided upon Judith McCowan, an experienced nonprofit leader with 30 years of demonstrated successes under her belt.

Jeff and Judith are currently working together through a transition period as she learns about the intricacies of UCP's complex program and service offerings, as well as our organizational structure and finances. Judith is scheduled to assume leadership of UCP on May 1. In the interim period, please feel free to contact Jeff and Judith and offer them both your best wishes as they undertake their new journeys:

You've heard the expression (or some variation thereof) that the only thing constant is change? Well, that's not entirely true. The UCP Foundation of Central PA is once again offering the community five fun and familiar fundraising events over the course of the year. We've got a little something for everyone, so take a sneak peek ... and mark your calendars now to save the dates!

EXPERIENCES WITHOUT LIMITS
"Deep Breath In..."

Fitness without Limits: Krista Latin
Fitness without Limits: Krista Latin
Today we are excited to introduce a new feature of our monthly e-news... "Experiences without Limits." In it, we will share photos or videos we've captured of people of all abilities experiencing life without limits, both in and outside of our programs. The feature will highlight individuals or groups engaged in something that motivates or inspires them... in the program, at school, at work, or in the case of Krista Latin (our introductory example)... at home, on the yoga mat.

Krista is a participant at UCP's Stepping Stones adult day program where she takes part in the LifeFit fitness and nutrition program both on site and at the gym on her own time. She is an exercise buff who actively participates in gymnastics, Zumba, and cheerleading. Krista has been involved in Special Olympics for 8 years and Big 33 for 10. She is the daughter of UCP volunteer Frank Latin and UCP Chief Management Officer Janeen Latin.

Please take a minute to watch the clip as Krista encourages you to take a "deep breath in...."
If you have an inspirational video clip, or even a touching photo that you'd like to share, please contact Lynda Bowen at 717.737.3477, x129, or  [email protected] . Just keep in mind that we require a signed photo release by participants before we can publish anything. (Contact Lynda for that too!)
GIFT WRAP VOLUNTEER SHOUT OUT
It's a wrap!

A heartfelt thank you to all the volunteers who donated their time this season, and to all our generous customers who brought us so much business. We'd like to give a shout out to the Capital City Mall for donating a great space. Once again, we benefited from a terrific location in the center court, right outside Macy's and Yankee Candle. All told, Gift Wrap 2016 netted over $14,675 to support UCP Central PA's programs and services for people of all ages, with all types of disabilities and special needs.
