Teaching the Word. Touching the Soul. Transforming the Life.

Blessings Family,

I begin this missive with a quote by Reverend Dr. Martin L. King Jr. He wrote: "Before the ship of your life reaches its last harbor, there will be long drawn-out storms, howling and jostling winds, and tempestuous seas that make the heart stand still. If you do not have a deep and patient faith in God, you will be powerless to face the delay, disappointment, and vicissitudes that inevitably come.”

The depth of what Dr. King states speaks to all of us. Waiting for a situation to change, or waiting for a loved to make it home who's traveling a dangerous journey, or just waiting for God to answer a prayer can be torturous without a sure faith in the Holy One who addresses every need. Faith really is the oil that takes the friction out of the conflicts and contortions that life brings.

This Sunday, I begin a two-part series that addresses the power of faith while waiting for God to make a move. In fact, waiting on God is a work of trust, but while waiting, the question is this; what should we be doing? As we continue our 2026 theme entitled “BY FAITH," Sunday’s message comes from Habakkuk 2:1-5. In fact, to understand the context of those verses, take a few moments to study and reflect on Chapters one and two.

See you on Sunday,

Peace,

Bishop Dr. Mark W. Thompson, Senior Pastor

Roots & Branches: Your Weekly Black History Spotlight

 Dr. Jane Cooke Wright

(November 30, 1919 – February 19, 2013)

The woman who changed the landscape of oncology

Before cancer treatment became precise, data-driven, and hopeful, it was uncertain, risky, and often ineffective—and few believed drugs could truly fight the disease. This week, we invite you to discover how Dr. Jane C. Wright, a brilliant Black physician-scientist working against both scientific doubt and systemic barriers, helped change that reality. Through quiet determination, groundbreaking research, and visionary leadership, she transformed chemotherapy from an experimental gamble into a legitimate, life-extending treatment, helping to shape the field of modern oncology. Her story is not only about medical innovation, but about courage, excellence, and the power of persistence to change lives—and history.
