Peace and Blessings,
I begin this message with a question; when was the last time that you thought about how bless you really are? I mean, when was the last time you actually began to meditate on all the ways God has been in your corner, provided, cared for you and answered your prayers?
I was on the phone the other day with a colleague who was once a wonderful and faithful Pastor for many years, who is now paralyzed, unable to stand. He has been on his back for months and now in hospice. Yet when I asked him how he was doing, the first thing he said was, “I’m blessed.” Think about that. He no longer can walk, bathe himself, drive to the store, or even return to his former Church to worship with family and friends, yet he said without hesitation, “I’m blessed.”
Perhaps you remember the old song entitled, Count Your Blessings? The lyrics say: "When upon life’s billows you are tempest tossed. When you are discouraged, thinking all is lost. Count your blessings name them one by one, and it will surprise you what the Lord hath done.” If you think on the goodness of God real hard, like the lyricist said, it will not only surprise you what the Lord has done, but likewise, you will begin to celebrate what the Lord continues to do.
This Sunday’s message looks to share what God’s blessings entail. I ask in preparation, that you study Ephesians 1:3-14, as I look to share a Word from the Lord.
