Teaching the Word. Touching the Soul. Transforming the Life.

Blessings

This Sunday, we once again will be blessed by on of our younger Saints who will deliver the Word of God. Rev. Brittany Culberson has a way of "telling the story” that not only teaches us, but provides for us every reason to rejoice.

As opposed to sharing any part of her message, let me offer to you the scriptural text she will use for Sunday for your study and preparation; Philippians 4:11-13. Within those few verses are some of the most profound words and expressions of one’s faith in times of struggle and suffering. Please keep her in prayer as we prepare for a Word from the LORD.

Peace,

Bishop Dr. Mark W. Thompson, Senior Pastor

Reigniting the Legacy:

Advocating for African American History in Our Communities

Roots & Branches: Your Weekly Black History Spotlight

Onesimus: Medical Innovation from an enslaved African

Long before vaccines became a cornerstone of modern medicine, an enslaved African man named Onesimus quietly introduced a life-saving idea that would alter the course of public health in America. At a time when smallpox claimed countless lives, Onesimus shared an African method of inoculation that ultimately laid the foundation for today's vaccination practices. His story is more than a historical footnote—it's a powerful reminder that solutions to global health crises can come from unexpected sources and that wisdom from marginalized communities should never be overlooked. As we continue to confront public health challenges like COVID-19, misinformation, and vaccine hesitancy, Onesimus's legacy urges us to listen deeply, value diverse knowledge, and act boldly in the face of resistance.
