Blessings to you,
One of my favorite authors—Brene’ Brown—who has written some great material stated the following: “If we want greater clarity in our purpose or deeper and more meaningful spiritual lives, vulnerability is the path.” That is, for those of us who are truly seeking God, and for those who thirst for God’s wisdom, discernment, and guidance, the increase we seek demands that we become vulnerable, or shall I say, we submit our will to the will of God. To live in our God defined purpose, as Brown suggests, there are experiences, challenges, setbacks, roadblocks and more, that we must not only learn from, but through each circumstance, we use them as ingredients that lead to Spiritual development and purpose defining.
Someone once wrote: “The purpose of life is a life of purpose.” Though I don’t disagree with this statement, I would modify it by stating that the purpose of life is to fulfill the purpose for which God created us. As God had a purpose for Jeremiah when God told him “I know the plans I have for you…” likewise God has a specific plan/purpose for each of us to fulfill. What we must remember though—despite the torrents of life’s often turbulent experiences—is that we both learn from them, as they are the instruments that help orchestrate and clarify our purpose for being.
This is what we want to talk about on Sunday; living in purpose. In preparation for Sunday’s message, please “STUDY” Romans 8:18-28. In this letter of Paul to the Church of Rome, there is much to learn. I pray to see you on Sunday.
Peace,
Bishop Dr. Mark W. Thompson
