Teaching the Word. Touching the Soul. Transforming the Life.

Peace and blessings,

I have a question for you; have you ever considered what pleases God? Think about it. What does or what can the creation do to please the Creator? Ok, so you may be thinking that when we praise or worship God, that God is pleased, that’s a good thought. Or maybe, when we serve or we are obedient to God’s will or God’s voice and follow through with what God calls us to do that God will be pleased, sounds good. But what if the Bible describes a particular word—among others—that blesses and stirs the heart of God?

Perhaps there have been times in your life where you have looked to please someone? For instance, you care for an individual, you enjoy their company, and you are thankful that they are not only a friend in deed but also a friend in need. And because they hold a special place in your heart, you want to do something meaningful for them that you know will please them. What does that act look like? What do you give someone who has absolutely blessed your soul so much so, that you would do all you can to please them?

This Sunday we will teach about what it takes to please God. I ask that you read the entirety of Hebrews Chapter eleven (11) in preparation for this week’s message. Also, this is first Sunday, so for those in our virtual audience, please have your communion elements prepared for worship.

Peace,

Steadfast, Immovable, Excelling in the LORD

Bishop Mark W. Thompson

Mildred Blount: The Hidden Architect of Hollywood Elegance

Before the lights, before the applause, before a single line was spoken, Mildred Blount had already told the story. With needle, fabric, and an unshakable sense of self-worth, she shaped the images that would define an era—crowning stars, elevating icons, and leaving her mark on everything from the grand wedding of A’Lelia Walker, daughter of Madam C. J. Walker, to the commanding stage presence of Marian Anderson and the sweeping visual drama of Gone with the Wind. Yet behind her extraordinary talent stood an even more powerful force: principle. “I have never allowed the back door to be my entrance. If I cannot walk through the front, I do not belong in the house.” In a world determined to limit her, Blount did not simply create beauty—she redefined access, dignity, and what it meant to truly be seen.
