The Word for everyday; Jesus Lives,
This Sunday, we will further look at what happened in the lives of the followers of Jesus after His resurrection and His many appearances. In fact, we will look at the danger that the Disciples were placed in, based upon the Great Commission of Jesus telling believers to let the world know that He lives.
More specifically, as we study Acts 1:1-14, a question will be presented; “What are you willing to die for?” That is truly not an easy question to answer. J. D. Salinger shared his thoughts by saying: “The mark of the immature man is that he wants to die nobly for a cause, while the mark of the mature man is that he wants to live humbly for one.” Dr. M.L. King countered Salinger’s statement with these words: “There are some things so dear, some things so precious, some things so eternally true, that they are worth dying for.”
Though Salinger’s words have value, Dr. King’s words ring truer, as they speak to the act of Christ’s sacrifice on the cross purposed to save us. Yes, God in Christ Jesus so loved the world that He was not only willing, but chose to die for us so that we might have life. So then this Sunday, I pray that you will join me as we delve into this very memorable passage of scripture and look to address the question; what or who are we willing to die for.
Steadfast, Immovable, Excelling, In the LORD,
