College is back in session, and with a new semester comes a familiar challenge: there never seems to be enough time. Between meeting with students and managing competing priorities, finding time for your own professional development can be hard to squeeze in. That’s why LifeBound Self-Paced Training is available anytime—giving you the flexibility to strengthen and sharpen your coaching skills on your schedule this semester.
I still recall the intensity of the early days of the COVID pandemic in March and April of 2020. How incongruous it all was. How we somehow shut our gaping mouths and got busy figuring out how to connect from our homes. How WebEx and Zoom suddenly became our lifelines to one another and our means for continuing important work.
Over time, videoconferencing and e-learning tools have become deeply integrated into work and education at all levels, and have complemented the work we do in person. It's true that we can swing so far in that direction that the cost may outweigh the benefit — witness the growing trend toward "degree hacking" or "college speed runs," in other words, completing coursework and degrees on a highly accelerated timeline that may provide a credential but not necessarily promote sustained learning and successful application. However, it's also true that educators and educational institutions now have far more options for accommodating the needs and schedules of a wide range of learners and professionals.
Enter the LifeBound Self-Paced Training course. We released the course in early 2025 to expand our offerings, and since then numerous coaches and institutions have found this to be an invaluable training opportunity. The course serves coaches who cannot commit to scheduled synchronous meetings, those who would find it more doable to integrate a self-paced experience into their schedules, and those who want to be more in charge of how much time they take to process what they are learning. Rather than being designed primarily to help you zip through the experience, it is focused on providing you, the coach, agency over how you approach your learning. You decide when you sit down with each one of the 15 modules, how long you spend with it, where you go for extra information about topics you take in, and how much time you take to process what you are learning.
Of course, there is nothing like a real-time connection and conversation with a seasoned coach to promote deeper learning and transfer. For this reason, the course includes three 1-on-1 mentoring sessions with a LifeBound coach.
