Cancer Clinic Offers Hope in the New Year
|
|
The Columbus Cancer Clinic provides hope and support to so many individuals battling cancer, and Marvin Thomas is no exception.
The Columbus Cancer Clinic has taken Marvin by the hand and has walked by his side during his journey with cancer. He has received a Gift of Kindness to have his car repaired, was invited to participate in the Night of Hope and Support, and was also adopted for Christmas.
“This was one of the most wonderful times of my life,” he said of participating at Night of Hope, a fashion show and fundraiser for the Columbus Cancer Clinic. “Hearing the crowd cheer for me was like being on cloud nine. I have never been in a situation like that before in my life."

Quarterly Health Services Corner: Providing Support for Neighbors Managing Diabetes
|
|
For people with diabetes, the cost of insulin has become a major barrier to care. Our Central Ohio Diabetes Association team has been at the front lines to raise awareness about this issue. CODA's Cathy Paessun, and Anthony Myer interviewed with
The Columbus Dispatch
and
WSYX ABC 6
as they examined the rising costs of insulin and the implications.
How LifeCare Alliance's Health Services are Making a Difference!
- You can now schedule an in-home session with a registered dietitian to learn important diabetes management skills in a one-on-one setting. Clients receive individualized coaching customized education on lowing and managing blood sugar through medical nutrition therapy. To get help or refer someone you know, visit our online referral page here.
- Believe it or not, our team is already beginning preparations for our annual summer diabetes camps! Each summer, over 200 youths gain support, confidence, friendship, and medical care at our day and overnight camps, Camp Hamwi. While kids are at camp, they are able to participate in traditional summer camp activities while under the care of endocrinologists. Insulin is also provided.
CODA merged into LifeCare Alliance in 2017, and by partnering with our existing nurses and dietitians, continues to make strides to support those managing diabetes every day.

A Note for MOW Volunteers
In January, Meals-on-Wheels volunteers will notice some changes as LifeCare Alliance moves toward mobile devices for meal delivery records. Route names will change and volunteers will be using tablets on their routes instead of paper records. To learn more about these changes, click
