Seasons Of:
Easter
And
Pentecost

|
"When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place. And suddenly from heaven there came a sound like the rush of a violent wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. Divided tongues, as of fire, appeared among them, and a tongue rested on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other languages, as the Spirit gave them ability."
Acts 2:1-4 (NRSVue)

From The Pastor's Desk:
Dear Easter People,
We are still in the midst of Easter. I know, the day of Easter was weeks in the past, but the celebration of the resurrection of Christ is just too big for just one day. So, we celebrate for 50 days, all the way to Pentecost Sunday! Recently the Women of the Congregation hosted a retreat that included women from our community and our friends at the Christian Caring Center. We also celebrated as 2 young people received their first Holy Communion. In the meantime, our life together at Lord of Life keeps moving forward. In two weeks we will celebrate Mother's Day, giving God thanks for our Mom’s. The following week on May 17th, we will confirm 5 young people in their baptisms and faith. All the while we continue to serve our brothers and sisters in need in our community and the world. We continue to worship with joy, thankful for our faith and for God’s love for us in Christ. We continue to grow in membership and young families. And, we have been, and continue to grow in generosity, sharing the abundance of God’s grace poured out upon us.
As we anticipate calling a full time Pastor, we also anticipate growing ever stronger and deeper in our relationship with Jesus and with each other. We keeping moving forward in faith filled with the Holy Spirit, living out our mission as Lord of Life Lutheran Church - for we are “Joyfully reaching out in love as God’s people!”
May God’s richest blessing continue to fill your life, now and always!
Pastor Barry

Special May Services
And
National Day Of Prayer
| | |
National Day Of Prayer
Thursday, May 7th
All members of Lord of Life are encouraged to pause and pray as our nation observes its National Day of Prayer.
This annual event had its roots in 1775 when the Continental Congress passed a proclamation for all to observe a "day of prayer and fasting" during the Revolutionary War. The practice continued over the years, but was officially designated a national observance in 1952. In 1988, the date for our National Day of Prayer was set as the first Thursday in May.

Singing Through
The Church Year Weekend
Saturday, May 30th,
5:00 PM Service
Sunday, May 31st,
9:30 AM Service
A message from Music Director, Rick Krause:
There is a rhythm in life. In January, new calendars are hung and resolutions are made. We huddle through the cold winter months, seeing snow accumulate on the ground, and look forward to lengthening days and color returning. Spring breaks open our hearts to more activities: weekend or vacation trips to the beach or mountains, and the dog days of summer. We gather together in autumn, glad for fall colors and family feasts. For all these things, we thank God. In our church year, there is a similar rhythm and progression.
At these special church services, we will be exploring the seasons of the church year, along with various hymns and songs for each season, on the weekend of May 30th and 31st. Mark your calendar! We hope you will be able to be there!

Lord Of Life
New Pastor Fund
A note from Church Council President Bill Reich:
Your church council authorized at the end of March 2026 the creation of a “New Pastor Fund” to raise funds to support a new pastor. These funds will be used solely for the new pastor’s compensation. These funds will allow the pastor to begin his/her ministry with us on firm financial footing. This new money will provide a full time pastor with fair and just compensation (which includes health benefits for a family).
Members of the congregation were mailed pledge cards along with a letter regarding the details of the New Pastor Fund. Please prayerfully consider how much you and your family can share with Lord of Life for the New Pastor Fund. If you need another blue pledge card, extras are available at the church.
Please return the pledge card that you received by May 10, 2026. It may be placed into the offering plates or the "heart box". Money targeted for this fund needs to be received by the church on or before October 25, 2026. Please mark your contribution as “New Pastor Fund.”
Your church council has not been able to meet with the pastoral candidate as of now. This is due mostly to bad luck as the first planned meeting had to be rescheduled and is now scheduled for mid-May. Watch your email in the month of May for future updates.

May Health Focus:
Nutrition
FUEL YOUR BODY FOR SPRING
Eat Fresh, Feel Fresh in May!
This month’s theme connects nutrition with the renewal of spring—reminding us that just as God’s creation is refreshed and growing, we can care for our bodies through fresh, seasonal foods and simple healthy habits that support energy, joy, and overall wellness.
We’re highlighting vibrant seasonal foods such as strawberries, spinach, asparagus, peas, and radishes, along with gentle daily reminders to “power your plate”: enjoy a variety of colors, stay well hydrated, begin the day with breakfast, and choose whole foods over processed options whenever possible.
Be sure to stop by the Stepping Stones to Health display in the Fellowship Hall throughout the month of May for helpful nutrition tips and encouragement. The poster will also include fun nutrition facts, along with a “May Healthy Challenge” inviting everyone to try a new vegetable, drink more water, and make small, positive food swaps as a simple way to care for the bodies God has given us.
For more information, you may also speak to one of our members, including Joan Molnar, Lu Hourihan, Janell Reich, Heather Cosper, Barbara Ma, or Cynthia Tait. You are also invited to let us know the health topics that you would like as a focus in future months.
(Special thanks to Abby Cosper who provided the write up for the May Health Focus.)
