Coffee Hour Fellowship
Every Sunday
Join us for Coffee Hour every Sunday following the 9:30 AM service. Be with us in Fellowship Hall to socialize, catch up with church friends, enjoy some treats, and, of course, sip our "heavenly" coffee!
During the summer months, there will be no hosts assigned to help with Coffee Hour. However, if you would like to bring a cake, some cookies, or other treat to share, sign up on the sheet found on the serving table in Fellowship Hall.

From The Pastor's Desk:
There are so many things about our congregation that I love! But, one of the things I love most about us is our great generosity. I see it all the time in the earnest serving and giving of so many deeply faithful people. Let me give you a recent example.
Last week we held Vacation Bible School. Four days of kids singing, learning Bible stories and verses, having fun and eating snacks, and giving. Yes, that’s right - they were giving! We collected various items to help the work of the Cedar Run Wildlife Refuge - and boy oh boy did those children give! Big tubs were set up to collect the items and they were filled to overflowing! So many that the refuge could not accept them all! Not only that, but the giving also came from many in our congregation. So many volunteers making snacks, telling stories and teaching songs, preparing snacks and crafts and helping kids learn about the over-the-top love of God in Jesus Christ!
Lord of Life is generous in so many ways. We may not be the biggest congregation in these parts but we have HEART! We know how to love and care for each other, and how to love and serve our neighbors. We know the boundless love of God, and we want all the world to have that same life-giving gift as well - starting right here in Tabernacle, NJ. Then reaching out to our friends at Bridge of Peace in Camden, to our friends at the Christian Caring center in Browns Mills, and to ministry partners in places like Haiti and more, we share God’s love.
As we anticipate calling a full-time pastor, and partnering with that pastor in mission and ministry, I am certain God is faithful and will provide. I am tremendously honored to serve as the Interim Part-time Pastor, serving with all of you as together we are “Joyfully Reaching Out In Love as God’s People!” We are the faithful people of Lord of Life Lutheran Church!

Call Committee Update
Fellow Congregants:
The Lord of Life Call Committee has had a busy July, working faithfully with the Synod to find a candidate aligned with the vision of our congregation for the coming years. In the beginning of the month. we were presented with the Rostered Ministry Profile (RMP) for a new candidate that the Synod thought suitable and appropriate for Lord of Life. The Call Committee, upon reading the RMP, agreed.
We have now had two very good in-person meetings with the candidate. We found the candidate to be spiritual, thoughtful, well-spoken and very concerned about the future of the Church. We believed the candidate has good insights on the functioning of a congregation and the roles of leaders, both lay and ordained.
We are now considering our next step. We may or may not recommend this candidate to the full Church Council. If we do, the full Council will meet with the candidate, to decide if they want to recommend him/her to the congregation.
We are excited about the opportunity this presents for Lord of Life, but we caution that this does not guarantee that this candidate will become the next pastor of our congregation. The candidate may withdraw from the process at any time, for any reason. Additionally, the Council must also accept the candidate and agree with the candidate on the compensation package. There is still a road to travel ahead of us, but we are hopeful and excited!
Pray that the Holy Spirit will guide us in careful considerations, in discernment, and in wise decision-making.

Mid-Summer Update
On The New Pastor Fund
As we continue our campaign regarding the "New Pastor Fund", the amount
pledged as of July 12, 2026 is $149,282. As of that date, over $93,000
of the pledges has been received. The money received is being placed
into bank CDs so that the church will receive some interest on the money
while the fund money is waiting to be used.
THANK YOU to all of our members who have contributed and plan to
contribute to the New Pastor Fund. Our goal is to receive all of the
pledges for this fund by the end of October, 2026.

Your donations will be distributed between the children of Bridge of Peace and those served by the Christian Caring Center. Minor League Baseball At Its Best!

Ticket Sales End On The Weekend Of
August 8th And 9th
Once again, Lord of Life has reserved a block of 30 seats for the Jersey Shore BlueClaws' Faith and Family Night baseball game. Church member, James Cuviello, is the event coordinator and is selling tickets through August 9th. The cost of each ticket is $13.00. Tickets will be sold on a first come, first served basis. Additional tickets over our reserved number may or may not be available, and there is no guarantee that those seats will be in our group area. We have reserved seats in the same location as last year, Section 111, Rows 15-17, with 10 seats in each row.

Due to the critical need for blood in our area, Lord of Life will host a special summer blood drive on behalf of the American Red Cross. Both regular and Power Red donations will be taken. We have timed this blood drive to enable some of our June donors a chance to give again during the summer. If you could not be at our June blood drive, we wanted to provide you another opportunity to donate blood at Lord of Life.
Blood supplies continue to remain low in our area, but demand is rising, the summer months usually bring fewer donors to blood drives. Please consider giving the Gift of Life!

2026 Vacation Challenge:
Visit Another Congregation
Many of us travel during the summer months, and Lord of Life has created a simple “contest event” in which all can participate. Winners will be announced in September.
Directions: All it involves is visiting another house of worship while you are away on summer vacation. While there, pick up a bulletin or flyer. Put your name on it along with the names of anyone else who was with you. For “extra credit,” you can also write one sentence about something you liked or something you learned. Bring it back to church and place it in the designated collection box. That’s it. Take the challenge and grow in our faith!

Thank You Lord Of Life!
For Supporting The Bridge Of Peace
Vacation Bible School Picnic
Need I say more than you helped to bring so much joy to our sisters and brothers at Bridge of Peace! They absolutely loved the food and the love that was shared through it. They had enough watermelon that they could use it for snack and lunch as they finished up their VBS today. It was so good to see some of our friends that we had worked with and to speak with Pastor Giselle. For many of the kids, this is their only time to be in a lake like this. One mother spoke of how she loved the corn, eating 3 ears. She was able to take the leftovers to feed the other 8 members of her family who live in her household. One of the children at the picnic was autistic. His mother cried tears of joy as he smiled for the first time that she could remember and genuinely had a good time. Another adult had just had back surgery the day before but wasn’t going to miss this opportunity. As they boarded the bus for the ride home, there were happy faces and many thank you’s.
Thank you for your faithful and faith-filled generosity of goods and heart. You were the hands and heart of Jesus at Atsion Lake!

Tellers Wanted!
About every other Sunday, a group of church members counts and records offerings that have been donated. This assures proper accounting of monies contributed to our church.
We are in need of additional volunteers, “Tellers,” to help with the process. Teller Teams are formed and assigned in a fashion so that a particular team is counting no more than once a month. The more volunteer Teller Teams we have, the less frequent the assigned dates will be. All needed training will be provided. New team members will always be counting with experienced volunteers.

Behind The Scenes
At Lord Of Life:
Music Copyrights
At almost each church service held at Lord of Life, the congregation sings hymns and liturgical music. We project words being sung onto the wall for all to see. Did you know that our church is obligated to follow strict rules and laws regarding the use of this music?
The hymns and songs we sing are copyrighted works. Many require special permission for us to use. In some cases, when we purchase the music in the form of hymnals or copies of choir anthems, we are granted permission to print portions of the music and project the words without any additional cost or reporting. However, for some of the music we use during the service, the church must get permission to do so and must pay a fee and report its use.
Church member Sheri Perkins continues to volunteer to take on the task of registering
| | the music used with the copyright companies. She files reports using a computer set up to accomplish this in one of our church offices. Any associated copyright fees are paid through the church treasury. Thank you, Sheri, for helping our congregation with this necessary task! | | |
Lord Of Life Library
Two New Works Added
Our Lord of Life Library is a collection of books and DVD's which are available for all church members to borrow for reading and viewing. The library room is located next to the church office and is always open so that you can access it at any time.
Two additional items have recently been added. The author is church member Pastor Carl Joecks. Our congregation has enjoyed his sermons and special presentations over the years, and now some tidbits of them are in writing in two books that have been placed on our library shelves.
Here is a summary of each:
I Was There is a collection of monologues featuring five men who played a part in Jesus' crucifixion.
There’s More To The Story is a larger 20 piece collection of stories, sermons, and poems, selected from an even larger group of materials Carl composed during his 40 year pastoral career.

Christian Caring Center
Monthly Newsletter
Lord of Life has been a strong, loyal, and faithful friend of the Christian Caring Center (CCC) and its outreach and support programs for many years. Each month, Lord of Life Helping Hands ministry provides 192 sandwiches to help feed their clients along with making nutrition bars for them through our Servant Sunday ministry. We have provided the venue for their Radiance For A Reason jewelry sales, and have supported other community outreach programs that they have held.
Each month, the CCC publishes a newsletter which provides information about their programs, activities, and how you can help them achieve success. Below is a screenshot of one section from the July 2026 newsletter which gives a summary of some of there recent outreach activities.

The "Crew Cutters"
It's that time of year again when our lawn will need a weekly trim. If you are able to help out on one or more weeks, contact Ed Hourihan who is the coordinator for our team.

Our mowing week begins on the Monday of each week and ends on the following Saturday prior to our church service. This assures our property will look its best for our weekend worship.

When the drop down menu appears, scroll down to, “Edit My Info” and tap on that.

Lord Of Life Is Included!
Thrivent has expanded their Choice Dollars program to include all Thrivent members! Any church member with a Thrivent membership will now receive and then can "direct" Choice Dollars that are given to you from Thrivent each year.
The Thrivent Choice Dollars Program:
At the beginning of the calendar year, each Thrivent member's account will be credited with "Choice Dollars." There is no cost to you; this is an outreach program Thrivent offers to you for free. You can then donate, i.e. "direct," your Choice Dollars to a charity listed on the Thrivent website. Lord of Life is eligible to receive them.
YOU MUST DONATE YOUR CHOICE DOLLARS EACH YEAR. THEY DO NOT CARRY OVER FROM YEAR TO YEAR.
How To Direct Choice Dollars:
The link below will take you to the Thrivent website home page. Log into your Thrivent account. Once logged in, scroll down to a section on your account home page that shows your Choice Dollars summary. Then click on "Direct Choice Dollars."

Our regular Children's Church program had its last session in June, but a special activity time for our youth will be held during the summer months at each Sunday service. Children will attend the beginning part of our Sunday morning 9:30 AM service. Following the children's message and song, the group will leave the Sanctuary for Children's Church Summer Activities. Friends are always welcome!
Our usual Children's Church program will begin on Sunday, September 13th.

Hey toddlers! Check out the Kids' Activity Bags at church. Some nice ladies from our church filled them with toys and crayons for you to use during the service. Make sure you put everything back in the bag after church and return it to the rack in the Narthex.

Tips
With summer upon us, the Stepping-Stones to Health Committee is dedicating the month of August to various health topics related to the season. Did you know that according to the American Cancer Society, 3.5 million cases of skin cancer are diagnosed each year? So, in addition to sun safety, we will discuss such topics as water safety, heat-related illnesses, insect bites, picnic safety, and sports injuries. Stop by the Focus on Health Table in the Fellowship Hall to learn more. The Stepping-Stones to Health Committee encourages you to speak to one of our members, including Joan Molnar, Lu Hourihan, Janell Reich, Heather Cosper, Barbara Ma, or Cynthia Tait. New Life Choir
We will not meet during the summer months. Practices begin again in September.
The New Life Choir sings at the 9:30 AM Sunday service during the months of September through June and at special church services throughout the church year. Practices are held on most Wednesday evenings and prior to each service at which the choir sings. If you enjoy singing, you are welcome to join our choir!

Ohana Ukuleles
Our next practices will be on Tuesdays, August 4th and 18th at 10:30 AM. We will be playing at Wiley for a sing-a-long on September 3rd.
The Ohana Ukuleles play at selected church services and other church events throughout the year. We have also occasionally visited with our outreach team at Wiley. Whether you are a novice or skilled musician, you are welcome to join us! There are ukuleles available for beginners of any age. Celebration Ringers Handbell Choir
Our handbell choir plays during special church services throughout the church year. Practices are held in the weeks prior to those services. Whether you are a veteran musician or someone who would like to play music, you will certainly enjoy being part of this group.

Quilt Ministry
The next meeting is on Thursday, August 13th, from 10:00 AM until noon. It will be a "Quilt Ministry Work Day." We have a variety of jobs to do and can use as many hands as possible to accomplish them. We are completing quilts for shipment in September and can use lots of help. Depending how much needs to be done, we might add a work morning 10:00 AM, Thursday, August 27th. Watch for announcements!

Helping Hands Sandwiches
Each month, the Ministry makes sandwiches for the Christrian Caring Center. It normally meets on the last Wednesday of the month. This month, our session is on Wednesday, August 26th at 9:00 AM. Please let Sue Dreisbach know if you are coming or if you have any questions.

Servant Sunday
One Sunday Each Month
At 10:45 AM
Lord of Life volunteers make and package nutritious, protein rich snack bars for those served by the Christian Caring Center. The group meets in Fellowship Hall about once a month following the Sunday morning church service to package the snacks that were made beforehand.
The next session is Sunday, August 9th.
All church members are welcome to participate in this project. For more information about how you can become involved with our Servant Sunday Ministry, contact Sue Dreisbach.

If you have old, used sneakers, please donate them to this ecology advocate organization. Some shoes will also benefit the Christian Caring Center. The location of the collection box changes. It is either in the church entryway or the Faith Development Center entry door hallway. No shoes please!

God And Country Seminar

Freedom In Christ
Worship Service
Sunday, July 5th
Our Freedom In Christ worship service recognized America's 250th birthday and praised Jesus Christ from whom our spiritual freedom comes. Pastor donned red and blue sneakers, the children's sermon centered around the representations of the flag colors both nationally and in the church, and the Celebration Ringers accompanied hymns and the prelude. God bless our native land, firm may it ever stand!

Scholarship Awards
Sunday, July 19th
The Lord of Life Scholarship Committee is pleased to award six $1,000 scholarships for 2026. The recipients are: Vincent Gallagher, Tyler Heinrich, Lyndsey Millere, Meghan Safier, Ryan Safier, and Alyson Venturi. The awards were presented by Pastor Barry during the 9:30 AM church service on Sunday, July 19th.

Vacation Bible School

National Parks was the theme for this summer's Vacation Bible School. There were Bible stories, songs, crafts, and more each at each daily session. Thanks to all the volunteers who helped to make our VBS a success!

Some of the children who attended Vacation Bible School were present at the church service to celebrate a successful VBS which ended the prior Thursday. It was also the Sunday of our Christmas In July weekend. There were lots of Christmas carols sung as our hymns and some special Christmas treats at Coffee Hour Fellowship.
