From The Pastor's Desk:
Living Deeper Into Advent
December 1st marks the first Sunday of Advent. With our tummies filled with Thanksgiving leftovers, and hearts filled with gratitude, we anticipate the arrival of the Christ child - the wonder of God coming to us. Personally, a baby filled with the promise of hope, peace, joy and the love of God.
Medieval mystic Bernard of Clairvaux (d. 1153 AD) wrote of three distinct advents, or arrivals, of Christ:
-in Bethlehem as an infant,
-at the end of time in resplendent glory,
-and in our hearts daily.
I would like to suggest that you have in this time of Advent, awaiting these arrivals of Christ, a strong sense of anticipation - with a heart and mind filled with expectation. What do you hope for most deeply? Where in your life, or in the world, is peace most needed? How might you experience a joy that fills you so much that you simply must share it? Who can you love each day, someone else or maybe yourself, in a way that is freeing and complete?
The season invites us to engage with each of these advents, asking us how we will live in response to and in the midst of them. Hope, peace, joy, and love beckon us to recognize and celebrate how God has prepared us for such a time as this. With these gifts, we build toward Christ’s long-expected reign.
Come, Lord Jesus, Come.
May your Advent and Christmas preparations be filled with Hope, Peace, Joy, and great Love!
Pastor Barry

You're Invited!
How You Can Help!
As a congregation member, did you know that you are the best force for bringing new members into our church community? We have come up with an invitation program in which you can be a part.
We have "Invitation Cards" available that you are encouraged to pick up and give to friends and neighbors with children who do not have a church home or are seeking a different one. All you need to do is to hand the invitation to them and tell them about our church and youth programs. This kind of outreach by you will certainly make a difference to bring them into our church family.
(Breanne has the invitations. See her to pick up as many as you like.)

In God We Trust, All Others Pay Cash
And/Or
Wanda Hickey's Night of Golden Memoriesand Other Disasters
Both By Jean Shepherd
(You can read one or both of the books!)
We will discuss these books written by Jean Shepherd that inspired A Christmas Story. In the first book, Shepherd talks about his wildly witty reunion with his Indiana hometown and disproves the adage, "You can never go back." This is a wonderfully nostalgic memoir of a more innocent era when life was good, fun was clean, and station wagons roamed the earth. In the second book, Shepherd’s memoir is a universal (and achingly funny) remembrance of the rites of growing up, including the gut-wrenching playground antics of one Delbert Bumpus.

Max, a certified therapy dog owned and loved by church member Sara King, will be present before, during, and following the service. In addition, the Health Focus Table (located in Fellowship Hall) offers information about specific stressors of the holiday season along with suggestions on how to cope with holiday depression and ways to find support.

Sharing The Abundance
A Message From Church Council President, Bill Reich
When the cell tower project was completed, the church council, at that time, decided the rental money, which our church receives from the tower, should be shared with others. This sharing allows others to do God's work in ways that we, ourselves, do not have the ability to do.
In January 2024, your church council shared $3,500 among the NJ Synod,
Bridge of Peace Church, the Christian Caring Center, Lord of Life's Helping Hands Ministry, Lord of Life’s Scholarship Fund, and the Tabernacle Rescue Squad. In December 2024, $3,000 will be shared among the Tabernacle Rescue Squad, the Christian Caring Center, Hope Alive Clinic, and Lutheran Disaster Response (focused on hurricane relief).
In the summer and fall of 2024, the church received a donation from the
estate of a deceased member and received funds from Tabernacle Township
for the God's Work, Our Hands road clean up project that our members
executed. The $750 from these two sources will be distributed to Bridge
of Peace Church, the Christian Caring Center, and Lord of Life’s Scholarship Fund.

Four Core Values Of Lord Of Life
An Announcement From
Church Council President,
Bill Reich:
In November, during the worship services, there were short presentations of the four core values of Lord of Life. One of the values was presented each weekend. Sue Dreisbach spoke about “Care and Nurture of the Congregation.” how we care for each other. Lee Jennings spoke about “Compassion for Those in Need” as he referred to his time on mission trips. Tom Tait spoke about “Making Disciples for Christ” and the need for us to share the good things being accomplished at Lord of Life with others. Lu Hourihan spoke about “Joyful Worship” with people being glad that they attended church.
These core values have led your Church Council to create a new Mission Statement for our church. That mission statement will be revealed in January 2025. This mission statement has just eight words. Can you create a statement about Lord of Life that encompasses the ideas of our four core values as we prepare for Christmas? Think about it, then come and see what we will proclaim in 2025!

New Lord Of Life Church Directory
Is Here!
Digital, Pictorial Directory Available Now For All Members!
It has been quite some time since Lord of Life has had a pictorial directory which helped congregation members to know each other better and which was an asset to our Ministries in their accomplishing their mission. We also, periodically, publish a church directory with members’ names and contact information which are put in your church mailbox. The Communications Team of LOL has found a simple way to do both: a pictorial church directory that can easily be updated and viewed by congregation members and one that will always be up to date. It is called Instant Church Directory. The best part is that you can submit digital photos that you already have. They can be updated at any time, as well as other items like phone numbers and addresses, by requesting a change on-line. You can use phone numbers in the directory to call another church member directly from your cell phone using a one touch feature in the app.
The LOL Communications Team is rolling out our New Online and Mobile app Church Directory in two stages. The First Stage is to follow the instructions below to view the directory on your computer and, if you like, you can download the “Instant Church Directory” to your Mobile phone. Next month, we will offer instructions on the Second Stage, “How to upload your photo and request information changes.”
Here is what you should do to get started.
To set up access to the directory, click on the link below and when the website appears, select: “First Time Signing In? Create Login.” Please remember, you must use your email address that you provided LOL to create a login the first time you use the directory online and via the mobile app.
Once you have establish this, there is a free cell phone mobile app available for download at the Apple® App store in iTunes® and Google Play store. Simply search for “Instant Church Directory” to get the download.
Having Trouble Getting Started?
We have several church members who will be able to help you get started. We will also be able to take your picture for the new directory if you do not have one that you can give to us. If you do need help at this time with the First Stage, contact Tom Tait at 856-725-2450.

All Saints Weekend
Saturday And Sunday,
November 2nd And 3rd
We remembered 7 members of Lord of Life and 40 relatives and friends who entered eternal rest this past year. Also, God's continued blessing was asked for the 9 persons who were Baptized, 5 of our youths who received their first Communion, and our 3 Confirmands.

Radiance For A Reason Sale
Saturday, November 9th
Lord of Life hosted a special event to benefit the Christian Caring Center in its efforts to raise money for the tiny house project which will provide homes for the homeless. A total of $631.35 was raised at the event! Thank you to all who contributed many of the items that were sold and to those who made purchases.

Bell Polishing
Monday, November 11th
Our Celebration Ringers performed some maintenance on their bells. Keeping the bells polished makes them look bright and new, but, more importantly, polishing removes sound altering tarnish which diminishes their tone and pitch quality. Thanks to those who helped: Trish Macri Dainis, Sue Dreisbach, Cheryl Richmond, Bettie Lohman, Barbara Ma.

Our group visited this magnificent building and complex in Robbinsville. The stone sturcture, with hand carved images and decorations, impressed all.

Helping Hands
Wednesday, November 20th
Our amazing crew was at work again! Here's a note from Sue Dreisbach:
A big thank you to everyone for sharing your time and your sandwich making, supply purchasing, and delivering talents! It certainly takes a village full of joyful hearts to provide 194 sandwiches for the folks served by the Christian Caring Center!
God’s peace,
Sue

Consecration Sunday
Sunday, November 24th
And Stewardship Month
November's theme at Lord of Life was Stewardship. Each weekend, a different congregation member gave a special message about one of our 4 Core Values during the church services. On Sunday, November 24th, we presented our 2025 Estimate of Sharing cards at the altar. A luncheon then followed the church service. Thanks to all who returned their EOS cards and pledged to support our ministries and mission in the year to come!
