"God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change, though the mountains shake in the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble with its tumult... The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge."

From The Pastor's Desk:
A LOOK BACK
TO LOOK FORWARD
We will have a special worship on February 8th to celebrate the 40th anniversary of our congregation’s first worship gathering on Feb. 2nd, 1986! Pastor Emeritus David Jones, Founding Minister, will be present to offer remembrances. I urge you to be present, to give thanks to God for the many blessings we have received, and to celebrate!
It is good to remember and be thankful for what God has done in the past among us. The gratitude we have for God's goodness then helps us to be ever more aware of God’s gifts among us now as the Body of Christ. For the love we share, the ways we serve our neighbors and the world, and for all our hopes for the future, we give thanks to God!
We stand at the very beginning of a new year, filled with possibilities and new opportunities to be the people of God. This all begins as we respond to Jesus’ call to follow Him in our life as the Church, and in our lives in the world. I am filled with a Holy Hope as Lord of Life looks to the coming year filled with the Spirit and Light of Jesus Christ!
May God bless us as we look forward - to 2026, and to the next 40 years!
Pastor Barry Scott

Annual Meeting
TODAY!
Sunday, February 1st
At 10:45 AM
(Following The Church Service)
Our Annual Congregational Meeting will be held today, Sunday, February 1, 2026 at 10:45 AM, immediately following the church service. One of the many topics for this meeting includes voting on a couple of administrative changes to the church’s Constitution and By-Laws. The proposed changes regarding the church’s mission statement and meeting quorum definition are shown in the chart shown at the end of the article, below.
During the meeting, we will also approve the 2026 Spending Plan for Ministries and vote on church officers. This is your opportunity to learn what is happening in your church and to voice your opinion on the Spending Plan, ministries, and other on-going projects.
Because a quorum of voting members is needed (Based on the current rules in place, this is 15% of our membership.), we urge all adults and confirmed teens to attend. Without a quorum, we will be forced to reschedule the meeting.

A Time To Rejoice!
Happy 40th Birthday
Lord Of Life
Tuesday, February 2nd
On February 2, 1986, Lord of Life Lutheran Church held its first church service in the gymnasium of the Indian Mills School in Shamong. There were 205 persons who were in attendance, and Communion was held "on the foul line" of the basketball court. The church received its charter from Bishop Herluf Jensen on Sunday, November 2, 1986.
In June 1992, our current building in Tabernacle was completed. In the spring of 2003, construction began on the Faith Development Center (FDC) addition to our main building. As part of that project, church members participated in the "barn raising" on May 17, 2003 which erected the FDC building framework.
As we search for a new pastor to lead us, let us look forward to a promising future as we celebrate our past!

40th Anniversary Church Service
Sunday, February 8th

At our worship service for this Sunday, we will celebrate and give thanks for 40 years of ministry. Pastor Emeritus David Jones will join us during worship and at Coffee Hour following the service. We hope you will be there, too, and offer thanks for all that God has enabled us to do!

Everyone:
I am pleased to announce that our recent blood drive was a success. Thank you to all who participated and contributed to this important cause. We were able to obtain 29 productive units from the donors. We had a few no-shows, and of course, some were unable to donate due to medical conditions (which is always the case).
We had scheduled three “1st time” donors, which is important during this time of year when the blood supply is typically low. The parking lot was in excellent condition despite the recent snow.
And we gave special recognition to donor and congregation member Jack Gordon for his incredible milestone of donating 17 gallons of blood. Jack, thank you for your long-standing commitment and for your life-saving contributions to the community. (Photos below are of the Red Cross manager pinning a recognition pin to Jack's shirt and Bill congratulating Jack.) Jack is also very active in the Red Cross sheltering program, as well as several other emergency management activities.
Thank you again to everyone who supported this drive! And our next one is already scheduled for Tuesday, June 16th (1:00 PM – 6:00 PM).
Best regards,
Bill Dreisbach
Lord of Life Blood Drive Coordinator

We hope to reach our goal of $18,000 in donations prior to the summer of 2026.

Fellow Congregants:
Your Call Committee is back in business!
We have just received the Rostered Minister Profile (RMP) for a third candidate from Synod. This document, essentially a resumé of the pastor’s qualifications and experience, has been distributed to all of the committee members. When we all have had a chance to read and consider the information in the RMP, we will meet and decide whether we believe this candidate would fit well in the role of Pastor at Lord of Life, and how we will move forward in the call process.
We ask your continued prayers as we continue, lead by the Holy Spirit, to search for our next congregational leader.
Peace,
Ed Hourihan

Social Ministry Lenten Outreach Project:
Operation:
“What You Can’t Buy”
Saturday, February 21st - Sunday, April 12th
We know you can’t buy love, but we certainly know that we can love our neighbors by buying things that are needed. Did you know that SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) food benefits do not cover household items and personal care products? During Lent we are focusing on helping the Christian Caring Center stock their shelves to provide these items for our neighbors in need. Here’s what you can buy and share your love during this special time of sacrificial giving:
Cleaning supplies, Lysol, laundry supplies, bleach (not huge sizes)
Hygiene & feminine hygiene products, Depends, toilet paper (large & small sizes)
Laundry sheets and pods are good as they are easier to transport to a laundromat (not too large sized liquid bottles)
Items can be left in the designated area in the church entryway (the area where our Giving Tree was located). Thanks to all in advance for your generosity!
If you have any questions, please contact Sue Dreisbach.

As often said, "What goes up, must come down!" Thank you to Cheryl Dennison and our group of about a dozen volunteers who removed the Christmas decorations from the church Sanctuary, Narthex, entry way, and Fellowship Hall. We greatly appreciate your being there to help out!

Winter Clothing Drive Delivery
Wednesday, January 21st
THANK YOU! You donated over 300 items of winter clothing to the Christian Caring Center, including 45 adult and 40 children’s coats. Our thanks to Thrivent for providing the funds for 30 of the children’s coats through Action Grants. With winter heavy upon us in recent weeks, those items will warm many bodies and hearts of our neighbors in need.

Clothing Drive Coordinator

Winter Clothes Shopping
Thursday, January 29th
As part of our Winter Clothing Drive, Lord of Life received a $250 Action Team grant from Thrivent to purchase winter clothing for those helped by the Christian Caring Center. Cynthia and Tom Tait did the shopping at the 2A Thrift Store last week. They were able to buy 28 coats, 4 pairs of boots, and 5 hats with gloves. These warm winter clothes will be a blessing to those who need them.
