From The Pastor's Desk:
Today I am thankful for so much in our life together as God’s people, especially as you are the light every day of God’s love in Jesus Christ to all the world! As we enter 2026 together it’s difficult for me to believe that I have now served two years as Interim Pastor. Together we have accomplished much with God’s direction, and I believe the future of our congregation is filled with purpose and joy. I have agreed to continue serving, and I look forward to the completion of our Call Committee’s work to call a full time pastor to guide us and to work with us as God’s people. The committee has been diligent and faithful, and we continue to pray for each of them!
Christmas is a joyful time, reminding us that God comes to us again and again, sharing our lives and calling us into the future. I hope that your celebrations were joyful and Holy, filled with love for those near and dear to us, and with the knowledge of God’s deep love for us.
I was struck by the introduction to Christmas Day from our ELCA worship resource, Sundays and Seasons:
“As on the first day of creation, on Christmas Day the Word illumines the world, shining forth to bring all things into being. Today we celebrate the incarnate Word, God becoming flesh to live among us in the person of Jesus Christ then and now. Emboldened by the good news of Christ’s birth, along with the shepherds, Mary and Joseph, and all witnesses to the light of Christ, we declare to the world that we have indeed seen and been transformed by the arrival of “the salvation of our God.” O come, let us adore!”
Jesus is the fulfillment of the Advent season of Hope. May the knowledge of God’s constant presence and love in Christ comfort you, strengthen you in the year ahead, and guide us into the future as God’s people called, Lord of Life Lutheran Church!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Blessings to you!
Pastor Barry Scott

Annual Meeting
Sunday, January 25th
At 10:45 AM
(Following The Church Service)
Our Annual Congregational Meeting will be held Sunday January 25, 2026 at 10:45 AM, immediately following the church service. One of the many topics for this meeting includes voting on a couple of administrative changes to the church’s Constitution and By-Laws. The proposed changes regarding the church’s mission statement and meeting quorum definition are shown in the chart shown at the end of the article, below.
During the meeting, we will also approve the 2026 Spending Plan for Ministries and vote on church officers. This is your opportunity to learn what is happening in your church and to voice your opinion on the Spending Plan, ministries, and other on-going projects.
Because a quorum of voting members is needed (Based on the current rules in place, this is 15% of our membership.), we urge all adults and confirmed teens to attend. Without a quorum, we will be forced to reschedule the meeting.

January 1st Update:
Fellow Congregants,
The work of your Call Committee has continued during this Advent season. We are working diligently, hoping, as we know you are, to soon be able to complete our task of finding a new pastoral leader for Lord of Life.
We have recently completed our second interview with our current candidate. This was an in-depth interview, building upon what we had learned from our initial interview. It was very conversational, with much information exchanged. We learned about the candidate, and we were able to provide answers to the questions the candidate had about Lord of Life. However, shortly after this meeting, the candidate resigned from the process. Thus, we are once again essentially at the beginning of the search process.
We have been in contact with the Bishop’s office, and know that the Bishop is actively searching for a suitable candidate for Lord of Life.
We ask for your continued prayers that the Holy Spirit continue to lead and guide the us as we see this important process through to completion.
Yours In Christ,
Judy Lerner
Paul Molnar
Sue Dreisbach

American Red Cross Blood Drive
At Lord Of Life
Tuesday, January 20th,
From 2:00 PM To 7:00 PM
Lord of Life will host an American Red Cross Blood Drive in Fellowship Hall. Please consider giving the "gift of life" to help those who require receiving this life giving substance. Currently there is an emergency need for Type O donors, but any blood type is still vital to replenish the supply.
We also have a special challenge to collect 30 pints of blood at a blood drive held at the church. We have come close, but never reached that goal. Maybe this will be the one!
Appointments should be made in advance. Click on the link below. Then put in the zip code, 08088, to do the search. Look for Lord of Life on the list of blood drives shown when the search is complete. Then click on "See Times" to register.

Project LOL:
Air Conditioning Campaign January Update
As of the middle of December 2025, we have $6,610 in our fund to replace the last air conditioner that cools the Narthex. Our goal needed to do this is $18,000. Thank you for your continued contributions to have our church cool and comfortable during the warmer weather.
We hope to reach our goal of $18,000 in donations prior to the summer of 2026.

Heating System Repair Completed
On Monday, December 15th, upon entering the church building, things seemed chillier than normal. The heating system was not working. All parts of the main building and the Grace Place area were in the 40's rather than 60 degrees which is the heat setting when the building is unoccupied.
The good news is that we had no pipes freeze, an emergency fix later that day, and a full repair on Tuesday. The bad news is that the repair cost over $2,700.
Thank you to Craig Baechler, Bill Reich, and Keith Lerner for helping with getting the repair company here to remedy the problem and for being at the church while the workers were fixing our heating system.

January Health Focus:
Sciatica
At the request of a Lord of Life member, our January Health Focus explores sciatica. Did you know that the sciatic nerve is the longest and thickest nerve in the human body? According to the Cleveland Clinic, 40% of people will experience this condition at some point in their lives. Sciatica refers to pain that radiates along the path of the sciatic nerve, which branches from your lower back through your hips and buttocks and down each leg. Typically, this condition occurs when a herniated disk or a bone spur compresses part of the nerve, resulting in inflammation, numbness, and often sharp discomfort. While the pain can be quite intense, most cases resolve within a few weeks through conservative treatments like physical therapy and targeted stretching. To learn more about sciatica, check out the Focus on Health Table or try this link: https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/diseases/12792-sciatica
The Stepping-Stones to Health Committee encourages you to pick up our free monthly handouts and/or speak to one of our members, including Joan Molnar, Lu Hourihan, Janell Reich, Heather Cosper, Barbara Ma, or Cynthia Tait. Let us know the health topics that you would like as a focus.

Strong Bones And Balance Fitness Classes

The Editor wishes everyone a Happy, Healthy, and Blessed New Year!
Many of us welcomed in the New Year as it began at 12:00 AM early this morning with the singing of Auld Lang Syne. From 1929 until the time of his death in 1977, the song was broadcast first over the radio and then on television played by Guy Lombardo and his orchestra, The Royal Canadians. The recording in the link below is from 1947, which is a special year for the editor. Enjoy and Happy New Year to all!
