A "Note" From Rick Krause:
Cartoon Christmas Trio Coming To Lord Of Life
It may be the middle of summer, but Lord of Life is already planning for the Christmas season! We will be hosting the Cartoon Christmas Trio for a free concert at the church on Saturday, December 7th. The group plays music from classic Christmas cartoons--especially the music of Vince Guaraldi (the composer of the "Peanuts" soundtracks).
We are currently reaching out to families with children in grades 2-6 to see if they would be interested in singing, but if other age children and youth would like to participate, they would be more than welcome. Do you know of any children who might like to participate?
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to Rick Krause. You can see him at church, send him an e-mail, or text/call him at your convenience. (3rick@lordlife.us; (856) 287-5328)

Quilt Ministry
Thursday, July 11th
At 10:00 AM
The next meeting of the Quilters will be on Thursday, July 11th at 10:00 AM in Fellowship Hall. We have recently received 5 large shopping bags full of beautiful quilting material. Our quilts will be dedicated on September 8th. The pick-up date has not been announced. So we have lots of time to complete enough quilts to go over 1,000 quilts that we made and have sent to many needy countries.
If you are unable to be with us at our meetings and want to make quilts, kits are available in the Narthex on the quilting display table, and pre-cut batting pieces and backings can be found in the quilting closet in Fellowship Hall.
Bed Sheets!!!
Bed sheets make great backings for the quilts. You can use any size and cut them to the correct size as needed. We welcome donations of new or lightly used bed sheets. They can be dropped off on the quilting table or in the Fellowship Hall closet. Label them for “Quilting Ministry.” Thank you in advance!
Remember:
Quilt Ministry is open to everyone! There are many simple tasks that you can do. The only cost to join our group is your time!
There are simple jobs that anyone can do. They are:
Sort donated material.
Cut squares of material, pieces of batting or backing.
Put 48 squares together to make a kit.
Sew 48 squares together.
Pin a quilt top, batting, backing together.
Tie a quilt together.
Sew the edge of a quilt.
Gloria Brosious leads our group and will provide instruction. Hope to see you on the 11th!

Helping Hands Ministry
Wednesday, July 24th,
At 9:00 AM
(Sandwiches For The Christian Caring Center)
Helping Hands is a monthly ministry to make sandwiches for the homeless served by Christian Caring Center. It usually meets the last Wednesday of each month, but this month we are meeting one week sooner, on July 24th. We form an assembly line and make about 200 sandwiches in an hour. Jobs are easy – putting meat and cheese on a roll, placing sandwiches in a baggie, counting the sandwiches, and putting them in a grocery bag. Everyone gets a small, easy task and a lot gets done quickly while we share some time together. We keep everyone safe by wearing gloves and masks, spacing ourselves, and venting the room. All are invited to join us!
It would be good to know in advance how many people can help each time we meet to make sandwiches. Some months we have a lot of help, but others not enough. Please sign up on the bulletin board in the Narthex or contact Janell Reich.

MORE Athletic Shoe Collection
MORE stands for Modular Organic Regenerative Environments. The group is 100% funded by recycling athletic shoes, keeping them out of landfills. Donated shoes are sold to participating vendors in developing countries. Proceeds regenerate forests and jump start small farming co-ops in needy regions. This creates retail jobs while stimulating free enterprise. MORE provides basic supplies, tools, seeds (fruit-bearing mango, papaya, avocado and income producing mahogany), and agroforestry training to poor farming families, school children and rural villages.
You can contribute your used sneakers or athletic shoes by placing them in the collection box located in the church entryway. Please sneaker-type used footwear only, no dress or other shoes.

Summer Camp
A Message From Cross Roads:
At Cross Roads, we believe in creating a safe, nurturing, and inspiring environment where young people can grow, explore, and discover their true potential. Our summer camp programs are designed to foster personal growth, build lasting friendships, and instill a sense of community and belonging. Through a diverse range of activities, from outdoor adventures to creative arts, campers learn valuable life skills, develop self-confidence, and grow in their faith.
Here are just a few reasons why summer camp at Cross Roads is so special:
Personal Development: Campers are encouraged to step out of their comfort zones, try new things, and gain a deeper understanding of themselves.
Lifelong Friendships: The bonds formed at camp often turn into lifelong friendships, built on shared experiences and mutual support.
Connection with Nature: Our beautiful natural setting provides the perfect backdrop for campers to disconnect from technology and connect with the great outdoors.
Faith and Reflection: Campers have the opportunity to grow spiritually, explore their faith, and reflect on their personal journeys in a supportive and inclusive environment.
Fun and Adventure: From hiking and swimming to arts and crafts, every day at camp is filled with fun, adventure, and new discoveries.
We invite you to watch the video (the link is below) and see for yourself the transformative power of summer camp at Cross Roads. Whether you are a returning family, a new camper, or a supporter of our mission, your involvement helps us continue to provide these life-changing experiences for all who come to Cross Roads.

Financial Audits For
2021, 2022, And 2023
(Photos From Thursday, June 20th During The 2023 Audit)
Financial Audits Completed!
For those of you at the annual meeting this year, you heard Bill Reich note that the audit for the past 3 years had not been completed, and he asked for a volunteer to lead the effort. Knowing I got a C in Accounting I figured I was qualified to volunteer. My strategy was to recruit other knowledgeable volunteers to do the heavy lifting, and we completed all 3 audits over the past 3 months. It goes to show you it’s not what you know, but who you know! Nothing remarkable was found (that’s a good thing) which is testament to the outstanding accurate efforts of our Treasurer Debbie Chromeck, our Financial Secretary Carol Ebersberger and all of our Tellers who volunteer throughout the year! I also want to publicly recognize and thank the great team of volunteering for their Time and Talent so that you, too, can thank them and, if interested, ask what they thought about it and see if you might want to volunteer next year (There’s a great instruction manual to follow, and Debbie was around to help with any questions.). Many thanks to Penny Miller, Lu Hourihan, Bettie Lohman, Bill and Tina Leach, Ed Harding, Tom Tait, and Barbara Godfrey! Well done good and faithful servants!

MORE Shoebox Delivery
Monday, June 24th
One of our collection boxes was sent to MORE. As you can see in the photo, it was full! The used sneakers will either be passed on to be worn as is or recycled. Thanks to all who donated to this cause!
Below is a message from the MORE staff:
Keeping a running tally of carbon pulled by your trees is our pleasure. Every pair you send us becomes five trees pulling down 5,000 pounds of carbon in 20 years. One pair of used athletic shoes weighing 1.6 pounds pulls down well over 5,000 pounds of carbon in only two decades with 5 trees. And average of 50 pounds a year for each tree.
Your gift of shoes also feeds millions of people with over a million trees planted by students since January 2023. Most of the trees planted are also food producers. 1/ 3 of all food comes from trees in the tropics.
It is also worth mentioning that we upcycle one pound of plastic waste for every pair of shoes donated.
We greatly appreciate your continuous support and please do not hesitate to reach out to us if there's any questions or concerns.
Regards,
Carole Bender, MORE Foundation Group

You are a blessing,
Janell

Going Wild At Lord of Life
The Pinelands is home to 39 species of mammals, 299 bird species, 59 reptile and amphibian species, and 91 fish species. This includes 43 animal species that are listed as threatened or endangered by the New Jersey Division of Fish and Wildlife. It is not unusual to see some of these creatures visiting or living on our church grounds. We have deer and wild turkeys stopping by on a regular basis, and there was at least one American Bald Eagle perched on the cell phone tower.
This past Wednesday, one animal resident was relocated to a more animal friendly spot. It was a groundhog that was living near the Grace Place fenced in playground. Thank you Keith Lerner for arranging its trip to greener pastures.

This is ELW hymn #891. It uses the music of the British National Anthem which is somewhat ironic. Let us all continue to ask that God will remain by the side of our nation and bless us.
