Coffee Hour Fellowship
Every Sunday
Join us for Coffee Hour every Sunday following the 9:30 AM service. Be with us in Fellowship Hall to socialize, catch up with church friends, enjoy some treats, and, of course, sip our "heavenly" coffee!
During the summer months, there will be no hosts assigned to help with Coffee Hour. However, if you would like to bring a cake, some cookies, or other treat to share, sign up on the sheet found on the serving table in Fellowship Hall.

Grace and peace to you! Summer is here and many folks are enjoying the weather, taking vacations, and soaking in the fun! Summer is certainly a blessing for many.
Our congregation is offering summer fun and ways to joyfully serve as well. Vacation Bible School brings the love of Jesus Christ to kids around us, members or not. For all the folks who contribute to this ministry there is joy in storytelling, crafts, music, snacks and more.
We also continue with our many ways of serving our communities, joyfully as well! Sometimes our community is within the church walls, whether in worship, in caring for each other, or in gathering for fellowship. Other times, our community is outside the walls, like our partnerships with Bridge of Peace, the Christian Caring Center, and more. Serving each other, and those around us, brings us closer to the heart of Jesus. Serving brings healing and hope to all we touch - and we find ourselves touched by God’s love as well.
I look forward to hearing about your summer plans, fun and serving. May you feel the Spirit of God within you every step of the way!

In recognition of the 250th anniversary of the founding of our nation, Friend of the Congregation, Dave Dugan, will discuss how our ancestors regarded God as disclosed in public documents at three points in our history: 1620, the Pilgrims and their Mayflower Compact; 1776, the Patriots and the Declaration of Independence; and 1865, President Abraham Lincoln and his Second Inaugural Address.
Dave is a retired attorney who is one of our church choir members. He leads the Lord of Life outreach Bible Study at Farmstead and has given presentations at Lord of Life during church services and other events. Join us as we look at some of our nation's history in conjunction with the Semiquincentennial Celebration of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

Lord of Life will have a beach themed evening of food, fun, and fellowship at our church campus! We will hold the event rain or shine.
Here are the details:
Food: Lord of Life will provide hot dogs, hot dog buns, and fixings. We have a sign-up sheet in the Narthex for attendees to bring sides and desserts.
Beverages: Lord of Life will have lemonade, iced tea, and water for all.
Activities: There will be games and activities for all age levels!
What to wear? Dig out your favorite beach clothes and be ready to join in with us on July 24th!

Minor League Baseball At Its Best!

Ticket Sales Will Begin On The Weekend Of
July 12th And 13th
Once again, Lord of Life has reserved a block of 30 seats for the Jersey Shore BlueClaws' Faith and Family Night baseball game. Church member, James Cuviello, is the event coordinator and will begin selling tickets in July. The cost of each ticket is $13.00. Tickets will be sold on a first come, first served basis. Additional tickets over our reserved number may or may not be available, and there is no guarantee that those seats will be in our group area. We have reserved seats in the same location as last year, Section 111, Rows 15-17, with 10 seats in each row.
The Jersey Shore BlueClaws are the High Class A Minor League Affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies. The link below is to the BlueClaws website which has information about the team and stadium.

Adult Ministry Trip:
Amazon Fulfillment Center
50 New Canton Way
Robbinsville, NJ

Did you ever wonder about what happens when you shop on Amazon? The Fulfillment Center in Robbinsville is a robotics sortable facility. In the center, associates help along with the robots to ship items of many various sizes. The tour is approximately 60 to 90 minutes long. On the tour you may walk up and down at least one flight of stairs and walk approximately 1 mile, but accessible accommodations are available.
Important Details About The Tour:
There is no cost for the tour.
We can have between 10 and 25 attendees.
Sign up on the sheet provided in the Narthex.
You must also individually register on-line with Amazon before July 21st. Instructions will be given to all who sign up as to how to do that.
Our entire group must arrive and check in for the tour no later than 1:15 PM.
A carpool is available and will meet in the church parking lot at 12:00 Noon.
If you are attending the tour, the link below gives specific rules that need to be followed when at the Amazon building. There is also a hard copy provided at the church sign up table. You will NOT be permitted to enter the facility if you do not have proper attire, etc. as stated in these guidelines.

The "Crew Cutters"
It's that time of year again when our lawn will need a weekly trim. If you are able to help out on one or more weeks, contact Ed Hourihan who is the coordinator for our team.
Thanks to all our volunteers who have signed up already!
Our mowing week begins on the Monday of each week and ends on the following Saturday prior to our church service. This assures our property will look its best for our weekend worship.

Food Donations For Bridge Of Peace VBS Picnic
Collection Dates:
Sunday, July 5th To Sunday, July 19th
Lord of Life, for the second year, will help Bridge of Peace give its Vacation Bible School children a day to remember. As their climax event for the week, they have a picnic at a local venue off-site. This year the picnic is at Atsion Park on Thursday, July 23rd. Lord of Life members have generously donated a portion of the food for the picnic in the past, and we will do so again this year.
There is a sign up sheet in the Narthex to list food you will donate. Your non-perishable food items should be placed by the Bridge of Peace shopping cart in the church entry way "Giving Room." Sue Dreisbach will contact you as to how to donate frozen and refrigeratable items. All donations must be received by Sunday, July 19th.

Due to the critical need for blood in our area, Lord of Life will host a special summer blood drive on behalf of the American Red Cross. Both regular and Power Red donations will be taken. We have timed this blood drive to enable some of our June donors a chance to give again during the summer. If you could not be at our June blood drive, we wanted to provide you another opportunity to donate blood at Lord of Life.
Blood supplies continue to remain low in our area, but demand is rising, the summer months usually bring fewer donors to blood drives. Please consider giving the Gift of Life!

Thank You Blood Donors!
A heartfelt THANKS to everyone who helped with the June 16th blood drive. We were able to obtain 22 "productive units" for the Red Cross due to everyone's help. Thanks to Lu for scheduling, the “church sitters,” and especially the donors from our church and the area who make these life saving donations possible. We also had 4 "first timers," which was special as well!

Thrivent has expanded their Choice Dollars program to include all Thrivent members! Any church member with a Thrivent membership will now receive and then can "direct" Choice Dollars that are given to you from Thrivent each year.
The Thrivent Choice Dollars Program:
At the beginning of the calendar year, each Thrivent member's account will be credited with "Choice Dollars." There is no cost to you; this is an outreach program Thrivent offers to you for free. You can then donate, i.e. "direct," your Choice Dollars to a charity listed on the Thrivent website. Lord of Life is eligible to receive them.
YOU MUST DONATE YOUR CHOICE DOLLARS EACH YEAR. THEY DO NOT CARRY OVER FROM YEAR TO YEAR.

A booklet with a wealth of information about our Lord of Life Quilt Ministry is available to all church members. This useful guide provides information about the Ministry and detailed instructions about assembling a quilt.
All quilts made by our team are donated to Lutheran World Relief and are distributed to those in need both in the United States and world wide. We average between 75 and 100 quilts produced each year.

Our regular Children's Church program had its last session in June, but a special activity time for our youth will be held during the summer months at each Sunday service. Children will attend the beginning part of our Sunday morning 9:30 AM service. Following the children's message and song, the group will leave the Sanctuary for Children's Church Summer Activities. Friends are always welcome!

Tips
With summer upon us, the Stepping-Stones to Health Committee is dedicating the months of July and August to various health topics related to the season. Did you know that according to the American Cancer Society, 3.5 million cases of skin cancer are diagnosed each year? So, in addition to sun safety, we will discuss such topics as water safety, heat-related illnesses, insect bites, picnic safety, and sports injuries. Stop by the Focus on Health Table in the Fellowship Hall to learn more. The Stepping-Stones to Health Committee encourages you to speak to one of our members, including Joan Molnar, Lu Hourihan, Janell Reich, Heather Cosper, Barbara Ma, or Cynthia Tait. Also, please share with anyone on our committee health topics you are interested in or to learn more about joining the committee.

Choir Season Ends
The Church Choir was treated to ice cream and a variety of toppings by Music and Choir Director Rick Krause following our final reheasal on June 10th. The choir sang for the last time, prior to our summer break, on Music Appreciation Sunday, June 14th.
Choir rehearsals will begin again in early September. All church members are invited to join us. Please contact Rick for more information about being a choir member.

New Life Choir
We will not meet during the summer months. Practices begin again in September.
The New Life Choir sings at the 9:30 AM Sunday service during the months of September through June and at special church services throughout the church year. Practices are held on most Wednesday evenings and prior to each service at which the choir sings. If you enjoy singing, you are welcome to join our choir!

Ohana Ukuleles
We will not meet in July. Our next practices will be on Tuesdays, August 4th and 18th at 10:00 AM. We will be playing at Wiley on September 3rd.
The Ohana Ukuleles play at selected church services and other church events throughout the year. We have also occasionally visited with our outreach team at Wiley. Whether you are a novice or skilled musician, you are welcome to join us!

Celebration Ringers Handbell Choir
Our handbell choir plays during special church services throughout the church year. Practices are held in the weeks prior to those services. Whether you are a veteran musician or someone who would like to play music, you will certainly enjoy being part of this group.

Quilt Ministry
The next meeting is on Thursday, July 9th, from 10:00 AM until noon. It will be a "Quilt Ministry Work Day." We have a variety of jobs to do and can use as many quilters as possible to accomplish them.
This meeting will focus on learning how to cut quilt sized pieces of batting. We will also put the 3 quilt layers together, pin and sew the edges, and finish by hand tying them. Other activities are: sorting donated material and putting 48 squares together to make a kit. They are all easy tasks, and there is something for everyone to do!
Our quilters make quilts which are donated to Lutheran World Relief who distributes them to people in need in the United States and around the world. Both experienced and non-experienced sewers can join us! There is a job for all skill levels.

Helping Hands Sandwiches
Each month, the Ministry makes sandwiches for the Christrian Caring Center. It normally meets on the last Wednesday of the month. This month, our session is on Wednesday, July 29th at 9:00 AM. Please let Sue Dreisbach know if you are coming or if you have any questions.

Servant Sunday
One Sunday Each Month
At 10:45 AM
Lord of Life volunteers make and package nutritious, protein rich snack bars for those served by the Christian Caring. The group meets in Fellowship Hall about once a month following the Sunday morning church service to package the snacks that were made beforehand.
The next session is Sunday, July 12th.
All church members are welcome to participate in this project. For more information about how you can become involved with our Servant Sunday Ministry, contact Sue Dreisbach.

If you have old, used sneakers, please donate them to this ecology advocate organization. Some shoes will also benefit the Christian Caring Center. The location of the collection box changes. It is either in the church entryway or the Faith Development Center entry door hallway. No shoes please!

Three special events occurred during our worship service. We recognized our 8th grade, 12th grade, and college graduates. We bid Godspeed to the Bares family who are relocating to North Carolina. And we welcomed Jessica Nooney as a new member of our church family.

Happy Birthday USA!
250 years ago, the events that took place in Philadelphia in June 1776 and the first days of July 1776 put the 13 Colonies on a committed path to independence from Great Britain. The Revolutionary War began on April 15, 1775 at Lexington and Concord. There was still hope for reconcilliation, but by June 1776, the Continental Congress was on a path toward independence.
On June 11, 1776, the Congress appointed the "Committee of Five" to draft a declaration calling for independence. The members were: John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, Robert Livingston, and Roger Sherman. On July 2, 1776, the Lee Resolution was passed. It proclaimed that the British no longer had governing authority over our nation, thus making the colonies an independent entity. The United States was born.
The date we celebrate our beginning is July 4th. This is the date that the Declaration of Independence was adopted. It was probably not signed on July 4, 1776. There were "rough drafts" at Congress on that date, but no formal document. It took over a month to produce the official, hand written parchment document. There are conflicting stories about whether the Declaration was signed on July 4th or not and, if so, by whom.
50 of the 56 congressmen signed the official parchment document on August 2, 1776. Those not present signed at later dates which extended past January 1777 and possibly as late as 1781. Only one signed copy of the Declaration was generated. It rests in our National Archives.
A "Dunlap Broadside" printed copy was delivered to King George in mid-August 1776. There were about 200 of these printed "posters" made on night of July 4-5, 1776. 26 still remain today. Only the names of Congress President John Hancock and Congress Secretary Charles Thomson were printed on them. The broadsides were dated July 4, 1776, which caused the citizens to make this the date on which our nation began.
We mark July 4, 2026 as our nation's 250th birthday. Let us all be thankful for the freedoms we are guaranteed by its laws, especially the right to worship openly and freely at Lord of Life. Give thanks!
